So you can easily say that harpers best days are indeed behind him far behind him. So what, doesn't mean that he can't fill a needed role and be productive. Are we only supposed to sign players in their very prime now.

 

I dont care what harper has done in the past there is no way in hell he gets 70+ tackles and 4 ints. Why would that be exactly? He had 116 tackles just 2 years ago. Last year he barely played and was injured and still had 39.

 

And when I meant faster I meant overall athleticism. Not only could mitchell line up 25 yards off the ball and be at the LOS in no time he also has the ability to get sacks by being deceptive with his speed and being utilized in disguised coverages whereas harper will always play in the box. As someone pointed out already Harper has had the most sacks by a DB over the last several years.

 

It's pretty simple, we need someone to fill a specific role and Harper just happens to excel at that role. As long as you don't leave him isolated one on one in coverage he'll be fine. He's not a game changer but you need these type of cheap productive role players to fill out your roster.

quintin mikell couldn't even get a job last offseason, buddy. we signed him during the regular season. and guess what, he's visited zero teams so far.

 

roman harper has been targeted by teams besides us. we chose him instead of mikell.

 

as for mike mitchell, supposedly super fast safety, here he is being torched by mike wallace on the final play of the miami game last season. he hilariously dropped it on the 1 yard line, but that isn't the point. mitchell almost lost the game.

 

 

he is not that good in coverage. he probably isn't even a top ten free safety. he was able to roam and make plays because of the front seven. he was signed a week into free agency. charles godfrey was regarded as better than mitchell before last season. let's see what he can do with all of that talent in front of him. or maybe we dump him for cap space and pick up another castoff. mitchell 2.0.

Lol Mike isn't the best coverage safety, but why people keep mentioning this one play? And it's an almost play. Wallace burned everybody on our secondary that game, how about mention the whole problem

I can't defend this signing at all. I've been patiently waiting for a signing that makes sense for one of our needs and out of all the Safety's out there we had to sign this turd? Just an fyi, Mitchell was a FS and Harper is a SS. Different positions and responsibilities

he's literally going to be platooning at SS with robert lester while godfrey plays FS.

 

he's only gonna be in there on obvious running plays and blitzes, which he happens to be really good at.

 

lester is still gonna be out there on obvious passing downs so you don't have to worry about harper being shitty in coverage
