Gettleman should make all his moves while keeping in mind that he is not allowed to sign upgrades for the team if they ever had beef with 89...         89 ,  of course being a WR,  that is no longer on the team,  but should still affect everything the team does as the team moves forward.

This thread will be a shining example of crow-eating come mid-season. Yes, we needed a hole filled but dude is old. I can see it now, the Huddle trashes Harper "Naka Style" week after week. And this thread will get bumped every time.

Funny that the people who hate Harper because he's "dirty" are also the most adamant people against the Smith cut.

The bigger issue beyond his douchebagginess is that he sucks.

 

He is pretty good in the box.   His coverage skills is about as bad as Mitchell's.             The Panthers will offer the best front 7 that Harper has ever played behind..  we'll see how he looks on our defense.

For the record, I'm not a huge fan of Harper's skills, but the truth is, I'm confident that our front seven can make players like Harper look good.

Also, 31 isn't as old as you people are making it out to be. Plenty of safeties play up to 35+.

Huddle needs to get over Smith already. I am sure he is just fine in the situation he finds himself in and isn't losing sleep over it. DG is finding a replacement as close to Mitchell as we can afford, let the scheme,RR/SM defensive smarts, and the front seven work it's magic on harper. Besides to crap on him cause he balled with Smith is laughable.....Smith was far from an angel.

Speaking of which, if/when we pay him incentives under the table for injuring other players, does that count against our cap?

If we had cut Godfrey we would have had enough money to sign Mitchell. I mean seriously, are you all going to be praising Gettleman for bringing in a washed up 31-year old safety who is best known for bountgate and trying to murder our top wideout instead of keeping a proven player and leader on our team?

Mitchell wanted, and got, significantly more than we could pay him.

Just flat out cutting Godfrey does nothing but hurt our cap. Now, as a June 1st cut, we save 4.5mil (I think that is right) How many times does it need to be said. We have no money. We could not offer Mitchell or Ginn Jr anywhere near what they were worth.

Harper is not a cornerstone. He is a stopgap until we get our ship righted. And, at the moment. He is the best SS on the roster.

Also, bringing "Murder" into your argument? Love that one.
