According to pff, Mitchell had the worst tackling efficiency of all safeties who played half the team snaps. He was a liability in run support with a -5.9 grade.

i will state harper is a great run stuffing SS, plus hes a great at blitz'n too. which helps replace some of caps role........ but its 2014, not 1990..... teams throw and attack those who cannt cover...... which is the weakness of harper.... panthers SS is more of WLB and that fits harper. im sure the panthers will use him to his strengths and not run cover2 sets. on nickle he could act as a LB too........ i need a drink

Bingo. I don't know why The Huddle is acting as if Mitchell was an All-Pro talent. I guess winning disguises alot.

Sure bc the Steelers front office has zero eye for defensive talent so they aggresively offered Mitchell a 15 million dollar contract.

Denial disguises more..Mitchell stabalized that secondary the moment Godfrey went down. The blown coverages were fewer and you did not have cbs pointing at Mitchell as to why he was out of position.

No one is saying Mitchell is a top 5 talent in the NFL but that his loss is NOT filled by Harper. Mitchell could stuff the run, blitz and get back just fine. Make a play in the ball? Ehh but he got his share of ints so..

OK... I can understand if you dislike Harper as a player, but to hold the hit on Smitty against him is fuging stupid. Smith himself beat the hell out of two teammates OFF the field, Harper had one illegal hit on the field. At least that's the only illegal hit anyone here is holding against him.

I just read ONE page over on SaintsReport about this and yes ... they are laughing. A lot. They say he sucks horribly and Brees and Payton will abuse him.

Exactly. However, it doesn't mean Godfrey is safe. Gettleman could still decide to cut Godfrey.

Too much overreaction. He's cheap and provides veteran leadership to a very young secondary. With our front seven, that's all we needed.
