Gettleman Made Nicks an Offer, But Nicks Says, "It Wasn't The Right Situation."

There is absolutely no basis for the claim that players dont want to play for us. Gross raved about his time with us. Captain cried when the season ended. Hardy stated multiple times he wanted to be back.

Florio says Nicks wanted to play here, but Panthers showed no "genuine interest" according to sources.

While Nicks wanted to return home to Charlotte and play for the Panthers, Carolina showed no genuine interest, per multiple sources.  That made it easier for Nicks to realize that, in Indianapolis, he’ll be playing with an accurate young quarterback and competing with Reggie Wayne and T.Y. Hilton to become Luck’s favorite target.

Yeah, Luck is very accurate... This tells me that he was not really a do or die for Getts. I wonder what Getts real plan at WR is.

Maybe he thinks Luck is a better QB than Cam.

Runs and hides to watch the meltdown.

Unless you are being sarcastic I don't think that is the reason at all considering he said that he could see himself catching passes from Cam among Rivers and Luck. That was the reason why I listed gettleman as the reason why he didn't come here.

Pretty sure Nicks would have signed here if Smith was on the roster.

He grew up idolizing Smith.

i knew the moment he was cut everything had changed. He did an interview in Feb saying he thought he would be a perfect fit here & faves a tweet talking about coming in & being the #1 guy here & then the next day Smith is cut. Now he's changing his tune. This org really seems to be going in the wrong direction in general & Gettleman doesn't seem to care much about his players feelings so why exactly would he want to come here now anyway?

In Indy there aren't the same expectations as here. He signed a 1 yr 3.5 million a year contract with them. That's number 2 money. A deal that if we got him to sign we would have been jumping in the streets, but he would have had the expectations of a highly paid high profile number 1 and would be compared to Smith.

5.5 million if he hits his incentives...so pretty close to borderline #1 money if he gets the stats

I'm aware he's still a new guy on the job, but Gettleman needs to learn from this.  It's fairly obvious the Smitty situation was handled very, very poorly and has had/is having a ripple effect.  If he's smart, he can keep this in mind as an example of how not to handle things next time.

The Steve Smith situation greatly hurt Gettleman's reputation with the players.  I understand being shrewd  in your dealings but you can't just be an arrogant asshole and expect players to want to sign with you on good faith.  Gettleman is making it known he'll try to get you for cheap and let you go after a year.  Don't come to Carolina to get your money - Nicks probably wanted a chance to settle with a new team he'd actually have a chance of staying with.

I was absolutely being sarcastic. Trying to see if the huddle could go any more insane than it already was
