Panther's in talks with Lafell

I can imagine what Nicks did in NY--if you want to compare him to Lafell.

Summer workouts:  Lafell attended his, Nicks didn't

Team Meetings: Lafell was on time and present, Nicks did not always arrive on time

Injuries:  Lafell was healthy; Nicks was not

Don't get me wrong, I would rather have Nicks, but these are things to consider.

Not really for me.  He already won a championship with them, the team was in disarray, and he immediately started thinking about moving on.  Coughlin has been known to wear on players with his stringent rules, especially regarding punctuality...  Ask Strahan.

Not saying Nicks was right, but he probably thought he could coast through the year and still get paid big based on his talent alone...  That part kind of backfired on him.

I don't remember reading it specifically anywhere, but I've always gotten the impression that some of the frustration with LaFell is that he has never dedicated himself to his craft.  I don't know that for certain, but it's what I've always felt has been implied when those in the organization have talked about him.  And he does come off as a guy who is just cool with being JAG.

Difference?

One has a prototypical QB with incredible ability and talent throwing him the ball.

The other one has a pretty average regular season QB with a lot less ability and talent (no slight to him, he will likely be a hall of famer).

Imagine what Nicks could've done here... SIGH... Wait, don't.

Difference?

One played with a 2-time Super Bowl MVP.

It'll be good for Cam to have a familiar receiver if we do sign him.

Lafell would be in much higher regard if he didn't have so many tipped balls that ended up in the other team's hands. That's my only beef with Laflail. He has to be able to secure the ball when it gets into his receiving area, for him to be a true asset for this team.

If it's a head case thing then we just need to move on and not keep trying to throw money at a problem hoping it will get sorted out.

I go back to the Smitty influence. If he doesnt have 89's monumental shadow to try to get out of, does that free him up to play better? He, Smith and Ginn had a lot of drops for us. Don't pin all of them on him.

He's got a lot to prove. He's got a long road ahead of him. Gettleman believes he can be productive, and that's all we can ask. At least he knows the offense and has a raport with Cam. He's also not expecting to become a face if the franchise like a Nicks wants.

I'm not saying lafell is great but the slight put on him by most of our fans is unfair, whilst were all disappointed he could not take over the #1 spot and doesnt seem to have the greatest of skillsets, he does put up relatively good numbers for a #2/3 receiver and if we had a legit #1 possibly a #2 I doubt people would hate on him so much If he was a #3 on our roster, I just think it's unfair to criticise a player who gives his all for us on the field with blocking and work ethic, he isn't good enough to convert and be a #1 so we just flat out hate him?
