So your saying your close minded.

No that's not what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying is that what you're proposing is ridiculous. Why on earth would we trade Cam now or any time. We can't just pull a QB out of thin air with his attributes. That doesn't benefit our team in any way what so ever.

Show of hands, who really thinks Cam will be here in 2 years? Is he worth losing for a 3rd rounder? Get what we can for him now and we don't have an issue with our cap in 2 years if we can ship Stew with him. What is Stews cap hit if traded this year through 2018?

Cam will be here in two years. There's no question about that. Let's pin on thread entitled, "post all your stupid ideas here," and be done with it.

While I appreciate your passion for the style and ability of Cam's game, it doesn't negate the cap hell. But with multiple picks gained from a trade we have the opportunity to stock our roster with quality cheap playmakers. Additionally, the money we save in two years not having to pay Cam will go to pay Luke and add some nice pieces in free agency.

It is for sure a gamble to replace Cam himself but to have the potential to add 5 or 6 more quality play makers at the same cost might be worth it.

where were all you crazy people during the season? god its like every childish nut Panther fan comes out of the woodwork in the offseason...

They were in the gameday threads which I stayed out of. Every reactionary negative doomsday opinion in those threads can be attributed to these type of posters.

Looking at the prospects so far this year, it doesn't look good. With all the guys we lost, it certainly feels like a rebuilding year. In terms of talent, Cam is the best. It is a stupid idea to trade Cam away based on his talent and how hard it is to find a franchise QB. Yet entering year 4 of Cam's contract, I still have my concerns about Cam in terms of the mental aspect of the game. You can't put him in a neat box like you would be able to do with Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck. He has an explosive character, and is known to sulk a little bit if things go south. It's for that reason, not being able to put him in a neat box, that scares me about him. Right now we don't have the weapons to help him out (last year was a struggle in this department, how much more this year), and we don't have the line to keep him upright. (Cam is still working on his foot work, and at times hold on to the ball too long. He even has that glitch at times where he does a 360 in the pocket, running right into a DE)

I admit it, I'm a coward in this regard. Cam has the ability to be a source of nuclear fusion out there on the field, and be the best QB ever to play in the game. Yet based on everything I said, I would honestly consider trading Cam if the Browns offered both of their 1sts, their 2nd, and next year's 1st (along with possibly another pick in next year's draft) This would allow us the ability to get Greg Robinson or Jake Matthews, along with two good receivers and extra help. I believe Derek Anderson could step in and do a fine job with that kind of talent, and our defense would still be great. With the money we would have spent on Cam the following year, we would continue to build the team up at other positions. I would honestly take that deal.

Exactly. I only think it would be hard to get that many picks for him. I'm all in for that though if the Browns are.

I was just adding Stew into the mix to give them more of an incentive at a cost of cap rather than picks and benefiting us by clearing some cap. However as someone pointed out earlier, getting cap space back for trading g Stew may not be as easy as it sounds. IDK.

    • True.  Sam and Baker did not do well here but went on to better things under better coaching, circumstances or both.  The real question is, ‘why aren’t the Panthers able to get improved performance out of ‘broken toys’, similar to Minnesota and Tampa? That is a rhetorical question.  I think we know the answer.   [The cultural reference to Pogo dates me, I admit.]
    • Did I mention that he was on worse teams?  Yes.  Do QBs alone win games?  No.  Did Cam, on a much better team with some awesome defenses ever have 2 consecutive winning seasons?  No.  So now you are cherry picking,  If the overall stats are similar, you take a look at him.   I told you that you look at his skill set---but you wanted to tell me that he sucks and mentioned performance.  I just presented performance--and his numbers are very similar to Cam Newton's numbers--a player most call the best Panther QB ever--and I agree.  By the way, Fumbles are evidence of how bad his OL has been--so you are saying that a QB in a situation worse than Cam's who has stats and physical abilities very similar to Cam's should not be given a look when you have Bryce Young at QB?  You are going with that story because you simply talked your way into a corner and now you are trying to save face.  No good GM would do what you suggest because "he sucks."  Sorry, but the facts do not support you.  But no matter what eye-opening details I provide, there are some who are going to go their Google machines to try to find some reason to support an ignorant approach to developing the QB position.  You ignored the similarities to Cam and went cherry picking.  I know what you are doing--but I am only suggesting (as I have stated before) that we bring him in as one of three approaches to resolving the QB issue. Compete with Bryce and draft a QB. Basically, I am suggesting that Jones has the potential to replace Dalton and compete with Young.  He is a battered stock that could get better in a better situation--that is human nature.  Instead, I am called a Daniel Jones lover and superfan.  That is good debate--But a real sign of mature thinking is the inability to LOGICALLY consider alternative perspectives--which is actually a characteristic of intelligence.  Just so you know, I critique and perform research in my job.  I am often amazed at how the numbers do not support my suppositions.  I learned that my impression is often wrong until I look at the data.  In this case, I have considered all the important variables and he should get a shot.  Numbers don't lie--and when you and others resort to twisted name calling directed toward the poster--it verifies my position.
    • I don’t get this, I know that is the popular thought process but I just don’t think it’s true.  For instance head to head last year the ACC had a winning record against the SEC.  The SEC had a losing record in bowl games. This year so far the head to head is 2-3 SEC and that’s with a fluke Vandy win in week one.  I see the ACC taking another head to head winning season after next week.  The SEC is mostly hype with 3 good teams, in my opinion.  But to say any ACC team would get exposed I believe is a stretch
