Time to make a BOLD move.

Several teams have given up more for lesser players. So what's your answer to Cam walking 2 years from now?

Sheer, unbridled idiocy is not considering all your options. I bet a Cam trade has been talked about in the front office. This team is in serious trouble with the cap.

the proposal for a trade is a sound business option. I just don't think cam will or would walk away.so you wouldn't want to make a move based on that assumption.

You do realize we've got 8 chances in the draft + UDFAs (who we hit VERY well on last year) + last wave of FA contracts to get help on offensive side for Cam. Also, if we maintain this dominant defense (and by retaining hardy, it looks like we shall) we give him just as much help, just on the other side of the ball. You've all seen Cam's press conferences after wins and losses. Cam can get the living poo beat out of him, but if we win the game the guy is exuberant.

Cam doesn't care how we win games as long we win them. He could complete 20% of his passes, throw for 5 tds and 50 picks over the season and would be happy if we made the playoffs. Hes a winner and thats all that matters to him (and us). I get it, we are all drooling to see Cam come full circle and load him all up with superstar talent on his side of the ball so he can coast to record breaking numbers, but that aint happening unless we hit absolute gold on this draft.

Cam himself has accounted for the highest percentage of offensive production than any other player since he has came into the league. He alone constitutes an offense capable of winning games and he makes everyone around him look better than they are. We will be perfectly fine.

Thank you for your well thought out response. I agree with you on so much of what you say. I just don't see getting out of cap hell for a couple years and don't see Cam staying.

Good business considers all options.

agreed. the point is the braintrust will chant All business until their guy is the target.that is when their pithy sayings like,"everyone is replaceable" goes right out the window. i don't think Cam would leave but I do agree your trade proposal is a viable option.

Ok. . . thank you for a meaningful response that has some merit. Do you still expect Cam to be here in 2 years? What do you expect to happen given we have no money and will have no money?

Yeah I expect him to still be here, though we probably should've hammered out the extension prior to losing four linemen and receivers. The whole point in getting rid of Smith was so we would have more space for Cam and Luke in future years, and I'm sure as much has been communicated to them.

Naturally I'd like to make a move but I get the gravity of the situation. I'm not totally optimistic either, you won't hear me say "it's only March!" because I see us bleeding while all the quality replacements are signing elsewhere.

It's frustrating to see the Saints sign Byrd, but the situations are different. The Saints' window is closing, so they make short-term moves. We, on the other hand, have superstars coming off rookie deals soon, so we have to plan accordingly.

But in the meantime, yeah, it fuging sucks.

Cam (the Michael Jordan of football), for the #4 pick 3 years later, which in Michael's case would have been Reggie Williams from Georgetown.

I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

It's bold to equate Cam With Jordan. The salary cap and roster size difference makes the whole comparison apples and oranges.

Here my thought. I sort of agree with the OP in Fantasy for now. I doubt we see this ever happening since DG has already said Cam is our Franchise QB. But looking at in another way as well. If we keep doing this crap to Cam he might want to leave in two years and we end up getting nothing. But if the Browns was willing to give us all their 1st round 2 round and 3 round picks for this year. In return take Cam and Stewart a long with his contract. We use their picks a long with our to retool this team. It might sound way off. But we are cap strap and we're making Cam more mad by the year. But in reality I doubt seeing this ever happening. But it is nice to dream right. Back to reality folks. This ain't Madden you know. lol

Another meaningful response and good discussion. Thankyou. I appreciate what you say about a closing window for the Saints. I just don't see any window to even look out of for us right now. Still am looking forward to seeing Gman to pulling that rabbit out of his hat.

I don't see why you set a division winning team with a proven, high-level QB, back another 3 years by rebuilding for what amounts to little to no reason.

Well when that high level QB has no weapons hardly to throw to and has to run for his life just about every play because he has no oline to protect him. It makes sense sometime. But it's just a thought. Cam ain't going to be traded unless DG is that plain and stupid.

    • We can't afford to reach for one of the first round QBs this year. I would love for nothing more than Bryce to be the reason we don't even scout the bastards
