Nicks officially a Colt per Schefter

I hate to break it to you guys...but Steve Smith, Tedd Ginn, and Bradon LaFell were not huge parts of our playoff run last season.  People on here act like we have lost 2013 bro bowlers on offense.  Our total offense was ranked near the bottom of the league last season, and we went 12-4.  Worst case scenario...offense sucks again and defense carries us to another good season.

Defense carries us again, and we stall out again in the 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs.  You have to be able to score to make it far.  Well, atleast score more than 14 points.  I know we have some more time left in free agency, but our offense looks worse going into next season.

Brady had two rooks last year and one average vet in Edleman.  His top target a year ago, a TE, was hurt for most of the season.  The Pats defense was no where as good as our.  Yet they still had a very good season.  I for one am excited about the thought of seeing our young wide receivers on the field.  Worst case scenario...our defense has to carry us, AGAIN.  Just because the WR's on the roster don't have last names you recognize doesn't mean they lack the talent to produce.

Yes! I knew someone would bring up the Pats!

First, the Pats attempted to field a receiving core with two Pro-Bowl TEs. One is in all likelihood a mass murder and the other is made of glass. Not really the Pats fault. If the WR core we put out next season flops, that would be the Panther's fault.

Second, and most importantly...you will find few who think more highly of Cam than me but NEWTON IS NOT BRADY. At least not yet. Cam Newton needs weapons to be explosive. He needs playmakers. He needs big, fast, sure-handed targets to go make plays for him on 3rd and 4th downs. (This the reason why for Cam, Evans and Benjamin>Lee and Watkins)

Third, the Pats offense was STILL better than ours even with that awful WR unit. We are potentially getting less talented and more inexperienced.

Fourth, Riveria is not Belicheck.

Fifth, the Saints, Falcons and Bucs are not the Jets, Dolphins, and Bills.

Sixth, the NFC is not the AFC.

He also had a pretty good oline as well. Just like........oh!!

Cam Newton 2013 sacks = 43

Tom Brady 2013 sacks = 40

Yup...huge difference there. And yes, Cam avoided some sacks by scrambling....but Brady avoided several sacks with throwaways.

It's funny that most of the people saying "there's still the draft nancies" and horseshit like that are the same ones who usually argue about how rarely first round WRs are ready to produce right away and how they're just this terrible risk, etc.

Yep, we are tanking. Call me what you will but intentional or not, no 1 pick next year here we come. We literally have no O line, no secondary and no WR. And dont even say "but offseason isnt over" because who is left that we can sign that would even come close to filling the gap by our lost players? Oh and btw, to make matters worse, go check out our schedule. 5-11 would be a miracle imo.

I keep forgetting that in order to win a game of football you have to score more sacks than the other team instead of points.

Worked out ok for the Ravens...and Steelers...and Seahawks.  Everyone knows you have to be able to score to win.  cam will find a way to score.  But defense still wins championships.  Just ask Peyton Manning and all the weapons he had this season.

I agree with everything you just said...my point  however is simple.  Going into the season with no well-known WR's does not mean our season is over. The Pats didn't see things that way, and neither should we.  The best WR on our roster last season had 700 yards and played second fiddle to a TE.  There are about 6 WR left on the market that can fill that same role, supplemented by young talent already on the roster and those we may draft.  I wanted Nicks...I really did...but we don't have him, and I'm not gonna get down on my team because of it.
