Florio made a good point like on Tuesday on WFNZ.

He said Gettleman still has friends in the Giants org and most definitely picked the brian of their front office who wanted NOTHING to do with Nicks after the last couple of seasons(missing meetings, OTAs, bad practice guy, health)

So Gettleman would only offer a low ball figure if an offer even existed but probally would stay away from the hometown guy.

Even fans of signing Nicks(myself included) knew there were serious red-flag issues with him but was hoping for a bounce back year with us.

Now that he signed with the Colts I will probally lean toward that Gettles was not excited about him.

The best thing to come out of this is that out of the 6 WR that we draft this year... surely one of them will be a standout. Right?

 

This team overachieved last year in ways that nobody expected... ourselves included. The players we brought in capitalized on this good season and cashed in. Our needs are exactly the same... and we're going to address them the same way we did.

Hey, you guys remember 2010 when we started 2 rookie WRs the whole season, had poor o-line play, and 2 overpaid running backs? 4 seasons later we've added 2 players (Cam and Olsen) to that...horray.

 

That is a point I have been making. We had one of the worst offenses in the NFL and gave it to Newton. We have done nothing meaningful to upgrade...in fact, we have down grade.

 

But we will still have folks on here complaining about Cam and the offense not putting up 30 points or throwing for 350 yards a game.

I figured it out. Gettleman is still working for the Giants. He's going to make sure Cam is wearing a Giants uniform by 2015.

The reason some are concerned is that we have nothing at that particular position. We are not the Colts that have plenty enough talent at WR so therefore Nicks not signing is not significant. To the current Panther's offense Nicks was needed. 

 

And most importantly, he didn't come at a huge price tag.

 

Again, the Panthers don't the luxury at this point to miss out on reasonably priced legit NFL starting WRs.
