Micheal Vick Community Celebration

Will be held August 8th in Newport News, Va. Community Organizers in Vick's hometown are preparing a "Celebration' for the former NFL player. Vick is scheduled to attend and speak at the event, which is intended to give the city a chance to 'enjoy and embrace" him.

Just saying.....I've never been to an event to "enjoy and embrace" an ex-con.

I agree with them that he deserves a second chance... but a celebration? What exactly are they celebrating?

Vick is using some sense working with the Humane Society and if he's smart he'll ask them not to do this celebration thing.

Forgiveness & redemption should be humble not boastful. Nothing says boastful like having a big public celebration for a dude right out of prison. The people who came up with this are complete morons. The ONLY way this has even a smidge of a redeeming quality is if they charge people an fee to attend and donate 100% of it to to an animal related charity or some other charity.

Vick should thank them for the sentiment and decline to participate. He needs to be humble and focused on doing actions that will show his remorse (which I don't believe he has but that's a separate issue).

Great post. He really would look more humble if he politely declined, stating that what he did should not garner celebration.
