Ravens sign Steve Smith

I was more talking about the vocal minority who were saying the Smitty was not worth the bother because his stats had fallen, and they considered him washed up.

I do believe most Panther fans would divvy up something to keep Smitty another year or three. And most are not happy with the Gman right now for how this played out.

But there were those that thought Smitty needed to go. That is all I was trying to say.

If the Nicks signing is true. Gman is one step closer to mending dome fences. And back on track to building us a consistent contender.

Ya think he's gonna see all three years of that contract?

I bet Smith puts up higher numbers in Baltimore next year than he did last year for us. They'll utilize him correctly, something Shula couldn't do.

Ravens are my new favorite AFC team. Probably going to be the team I'm pulling for most of next year, assuming we lose the first six games and clean house.

I believe he signed with the Ravens so quickly for two reasons. 1) It is relatively close to home. 2) They told him what he wanted to here. That they wanted him, and they were planning on utilizing him. They are the two most pressing needs in his life right now. His family, and gaining his respect back.

3.  The Ravens play us next year.  New England doesn't.

I'd rather see him in NE personally. I think that is his best shot for good numbers and a ring. Brady to Welker/edelman was prolific. Imagine Brady to Steve.

I have been saying the same thing. I really wanted to see him in New England. He'd have the best qb in the league throwing to him imo, and Brady would finally have a weapon. Brady made it to conference championship with bums at wr. Imagine smitty.

If his production warrants a third year, I say that is miraculous. I do expect him to play well enough this year to get a second year. That second year is the deal breaker. He performs well, he just might see that third year. If his production drops, he probably won't see that third year.

I hadn't thought of that. It very well may have crossed his mind with the way things transpired lately. Then again, Smitty may have just liked what the Ravens offered and decided he could be happy in Balt. Those folks sure did seal the deal with what ever they offered.

I think the Ravens are a good fit. Flacco is younger and slightly more mobile than Manning and Brady and the Ravens need help at receiver. Flacco is a guy who has a great pass with time and options. Manning has targets and Seattle has their own style where Steve would be at their discretion and not necessarily a focal point.

He could have a huge year for the Ravens, I think.

I know exactly how you all feel.  It's like how Ed Reed left the Ravens last year.

Visited Charlotte when the Ravens last played there and had a great time.  Also go to an old wrestling fan fest there almost every year.

If any of you are coming to Baltimore to see #89 play hope you have as good a time as I have had down your way.

With Steve Smith on the Ravens, I hadn't thought of that weeks ago but it makes sense now.  The Ravens made a huge mistake letting Boldin go and lost 2 strong leaders with Reed leaving and Ray Lewis retiring.  To be honest John Harbaugh neutered the locker room of leaders and outspoken guys and 1 year off a Super Bowl may be on the hot seat.

Anyway, #89 will always be a Panther, but as a Ravens fan I hope to see him contribute and enjoy his time in purple.  The way you all have posted about him makes me pleased to see he landed with us.

Good luck next season.
