You get pie for pie.

well i liked your whole post that the quote came from, but that quote was particularly... useful... to the childish bandwagon jumpers ive seen the past few weeks on the huddle. i love Steve as much as any true Carolina fan. but the man is a hothead and handed the situation more poorly than Gman did IMHO

I agree with that.  I think it's interesting he signed with the Ravens so quickly.  The initial report that the Ravens were interested in Steve came out so fast that it just makes me wonder if the scenario was pre planned.   Not saying it was...just makes me wonder.

I'll be interested to see what his deal's worth.

Please chill out and relax fellow Panther fans. Let's see were we end up. It's still early and we still have the draft. I love Gettlemen's patience..

I am sad to see Steve Smith go but this is what our offense needed. We were trash on offense last year every position deserves to be blown up and retooled. Some games we only got ten points. This is the right step forward.

Its nothing to panic about if you don't worry about sucking and can deal with it. The fact is Steve Smith was let go was agreed to by both parties and I believe Gettleman did him a favor to make it a way that Steve could come out looking like the better party. Steve was made aware of what was about go to down, wanted to get out of town, and Gettleman helped him do so. Steve has no place on a rebuilding team.

We're not rebuilding.  Our core is developed.  If we sign a decent WR and OL everyone would instantaneously think we're awesome again.

Uh..we need like 1 great WR and 3 decent ones and a complete starting and backup O-Line. And none of those are even available at this point. nobody that isnt a homer thinks we are going to be awesome anytime soon

isnt the point of football to get a star QB and build AROUND him? its year 4 and this is what he has target wise and to protect him. its an embarrassment

i see. Speaking in past tense doesnt help the situation. Getts will learn from this i bet. Im preety sure the media was trying its best to pry something out of him cause he usually never shows his hand.

What question was he asked before he gave that answer? Was it a past tense question? He might have been baited into this quote.

Yes,the media took the ball and run with it, using the pass tense phrase as its main source of reference. They were saying Gettleman was going to release/trade Steve Smith before he had a chance to meet with Steve.

The medias approach to situations like this is why John Fox and others have the "It is what it is","We picked a bad day to have a bad day" and saying things that you really can't use against them.

Our defense allowed 15.1 ppg last season.  If we can average 15.2 a game we have a shot at the playoffs...and finally two winning seasons back to back.

Our defense is going to have trouble repeating its performance if its on the field for 75% of the game.

year four, three of which were under a different general manager. give the man some time. honestly... im perfectly fine with letting the entire receiving corps go. Smitty was, and will always be, a Panther in our hearts. but he was dropping off quickly. the rest of the corps sucked badly. im fine with blowing them up and starting over. as for the OL and secondary, people drastically underestimate how much young talent there is both on our team and in the draft. heck we could even get some young, cheap talent for the secondary in free agency. we arent as bad off as the apocalyptic bandwagon jumpers would have one believe.

Do you honestly think they're not going to sign and/or draft any Olineman?  There are still wrs out there that can help us.  We stilll have Cam, Kalil, Olsen, two, returning starters at G, and a starting.  Not to mention any camp casualties.  There's a lot of time.
