Croissants are the best breakfast bread

Okay, I'll elaborate; pancakes, waffles and crepes are all intended to be served warm and tend to be the centerpiece of the meal. Breads can be served at room temperature with or without accoutrement and unless eating on the go, are more of a side.

Wait, you don't eat croissants warm?

What kind of monster are you?

Things are getting cleared up now. The folks who think croissants need to be hot, or are hard when room temperature have been skewed by the Pillsbury dinner rolls, microwavable items, and the fast food joint breakfast sandwiches served on "croissants." Find a good French style deli and have a real croissant. They are so flaky and buttery that there is no way they can be like hardtack when they aren't warm.

Also, Jase, I thought of another difference. Waffles, Pancakes and crepes are cooked on a skillet or iron. Bread and pastries (sweet or savory) are baked.  That's the real difference.

There I said it. I'm not going to be afraid anymore. I love you biscuits but I can't hide in the closet any longer.

If you want to level up your hipster status. Next time slice the croissant, Put 2 slices of bri and chopped walnuts in the two halves. Eat it with honey. Damn good.

A real croissant, when mashed, should leave a grease stain.

Also, Krispy Kreme is still open. And Britts opens soon.
