I think Gettleman...

went to Jerry Richardson and said; "Hey Jerry, I made your team relevant in one year, my first year, and I did it with what you had. Can you imagine what I can do when I get what I want?, what I can do when I get the players I want. But you have to understand, I can't do anything unless I get the players buy in and they won't buy in unless they know I'm in control." I need to tear this team down before I can build it up. I had a winning track record before I came to Charlotte and now I have a winning track record here in Charlotte. We're going to have rain before we get sunshine but that's okay because the fans are already used to it. They are already used to not having back to back winning seasons. Give me

the control I need to build what you want and our next winning season will be followed by a winning season. "

Fans don't want to hear it or see it but DG really needs to do what he is doing IMO, for years we have patched up the offense with old journeymen and other peoples rejects, the first sign we have something special is when we draft Cam, we can keep getting Bandaid replacments and be mediocre for years to come or we can rebuild GB a few down seasons and be relevant for years to come, it really is this simple! The problem was overachieving last season because it heightened peoples expectations but the reality is we have to to rebuild and rebuild big areas, the whole oline and the whole recieving core, it isn't pretty but DG is doing what's right I'm not sure there's a way of doing it which appeases the fans though, fans are all about the hear and now not 2015 or 2016 but that's what DG is doing he's forward thinking, is it his fault he held back from speeding along the process by cap hell and lack of talent on the roster? I don't think so.

You GM TO WIN THE GAME.

You don't go into rebuild mode with a young franchise QB AND THE BEST defense in the NFL. (2ndwhatever)

There's no rules to being a GM apart from following the path you decide is the correct one! Everyone does it differently and this team in certain areas especially offense does need to be rebuilt, it lacks talent and depth it can't go on forever being ignored! The rebuild should of started when we drafted Cam but it wasn't! The colts did it with Luck and we should of done it but we didn't we let our team get old and talentless and now instead of having to replace a few guys we have to replace the whole dam lot

He is doing what he said he was going to do to get this team out of the cap crapper.  He is doing this year what he did last year, but there is less wiggle room, even though we are in a better place with the cap figure (thanks to DG).  In 2010-12, when Hurney went rogue, I was cringing at his contracts.  Godfrey, DWIll, Stew, CJ, Kalil, etc.  It was a frigging nightmare.  Hurney had lost his mind--he was trying to validate his draft picks with big contracts when they didn't deserve them--they were 2-14 and 6-10.  We are paying for that spending spree.

The fact that Hurney made such a mess--it is not as if we have $$ tied up in key core positions--we have major $$$$$$ at RB and a mediocre at best Safety.  Stewart's contract is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen.  He is strangling our ability to bring in a free agent or two while his sorry butt, drafted off the operating table, sits on a bike beneath a floppy hat like Bill Murray wore in Caddyshack.  Pisses me off.

So those of you with amnesia and limited knowledge of the cap can bitch about Gettlemen all you want; I am glad he is here and doing what he is doing.

" I need to tear this team down before I can build it up."

I don't know why so many fans think this way. He made his moves in week 2 of FA last year, because that was the way he had to go, and this year is no different. He managed to round up the players needed to plug holes, in order to have a successful season and win the division.

I plan to sit back and see what he comes up with this year, instead of running around like Chicken Little yelling the sky has fallen. A good GM tries to win while not mortaging the future (like Hurney did). Anyone who thinks he's not trying to end up with a better team for next season is nuts, and in our situation you don't try and sign guys without paying attention to the cost.

I also plan to sit back and see how the new FA's and draft picks perform on the field, instead of saying they all suck as soon as their names are added to the roster.

There is no reason we should accept a couple of down years right now. We have the corp that can win year in and year out now.

We have a good front seven and Cam kalil and Olsen it's stil leaves plenty of holes on a 53 man roster, it's going to take time To build his team I'm just saying I wouldn't expect results in those years but if they come and we grow and mature quicker all the better

We have a good defense and a franchise QB. I'm not accepting a losing record next year because of some subscribed notions that we should take a step back.

This^^^^

Why in the world would they dangle success like that to the fans and then purposefully shove the team back down just to rebuild it?  Thats craaaaaazy!  Is Cam Newton aging in reverse dog years or something?  I know hes still not even to his "prime" yet but why wait?  Lets steal one before he hits that sweet spot in his career then dominate for the next 3-6 years after that.
