Do we cut Godfrey and let him test the market?

How would that alienate a locker room? Bc 89 doesn't like him?

Did Mike Mitchell alienate things for taking a cheap shot on Cam? No, he became a tone setter for our D. We needed that nasty edge.

Bottom line is you can sign a vet to a 1 yr deal......and get better play than Godfrey offers. Plus Godfrey's deal is dumb.

Did we get worse last year when Godfrey went down? If the answer is no.....wait point does he serve

I really hope you don't think Harper is better then Godfrey? ?

I don't care how much you hate him that's some bull poo right there.

All we know is that there was a strong correlation between Godfrey going on IR and the defense improving quite a bit.

The defense improved dramatically once anyone named Josh was not playing CB.  If you watch the last game when he was hurt which was Buffalo.  He had 2 big pass break ups.  The last one was a touchdown he broke up and got hurt on.

Godfrey ..matter of fact any decent safety will play good with our front 7.  In years past, Godfrey had to cover up for a lot of mistakes thus taking him out of position.  I think he will play better.

That being said, 7.1 million is a big number.   So if he gets cut I understand.

Making big plays has always been a strong point for Godfrey.  He does have a knack for it.  Unfortunately, he also has a knack for being out of position, missing tackles, and giving up huge plays.

I understand that.  However look at the overall team prior to our current one.

Jon Beason , TD were likely out or injured.

The Kraken was just Greg Hardy and wasn't really a factor until 2012.

Nick Hayden, Corey Irvin, Fua, Terrel Mclain ?   Our DT's in general were garbage

Gamble was either playing or pouting.

Sherrod Martin was the worst safety in football statistically.

Brandon Hogan, Jordan Pugh, RJ Stanford @ CB?

Compare that to our current one.

Also look at the 2 games he played last year.

1st was against Seattle where they were shut down basically the entire game till Josh Thomas got burned on the same play twice.

2nd game he was playing well but buffalo dinked and dunked Josh Norman and Josh Thomas to death.  Capping it off with Josh Norman being completely clueless on the last plays.   Godfrey broke up 2 big passes and got hurt.

I am not saying Godfrey is the best safety in fooball, but give the man a break, our defense has sucked monkey balls until the end of 2012 and 2013.   He gambled a lot because he had too.

yes, a decent vet to a 1 yr deal > Godfrey's play (which likely could be even worse than his standard poo off his injury).  How is that "poo"?

it isn't hate.....he isn't a S no matter how bad we want him to be.  Godfrey's playisnt  even in the same solar system to justify his check.

the easy response is to claim someone is a "hater".  Basically, what I stated was an easy outcome for 89.....just happened.  Everyone called me a "hater" b/c I simply realized that each year he got older greatly decreased his odds of playing here.

I'm not a player fanboy.  That doesn't make he a hater.  Guys are suppose to come and go histroically we get too attached wishing for things to happen.

I pimped Cam and Luke BOTH before we drafted way before it was cool.  I pimp both of them as awesome now.  Unless they retire early, one day I will probably think they should go to.  I won't be a "hater".
