Don't blame Gettleman for the trouble we're facing now

Yeah I can see reality but it doesn't mean Gettelman shouldn't get blasted for any thing less then a 9-7 record.

After coming in with the mess that he has dealt with, and is still dealing with now? No, I don't think he should.

for certain individual things he may do in this off-season, or not do, sure... but, you can't blast him fully for the situation the team is in right now.

I mean, we could have not gotten him and still be looking for a GM. then probably not have a coaching staff right now, not gotten the players we did last season that got the mind set established on this the team that it's gathered up.

There are lots of things that could'a would'a should'a happened...  But even before all that. We had the cap issues. And whoever would be here now (if not Gettelman) would have to deal with it.

I think I'll go to bed. Probably try to get to sleep by counting to 107 million in increments of 19.

That's like a little over 5 million per.

We have 22 starters on our team, not including the kicker. Our role players can't be making 3-4 million per season, they need to be at around 1 million and the only way that is going to happen is drafting starters sand signing prove it deals to fringe-starters.

What I'm saying is, no matter what, we are going to have to get production out of players at bargain bin prices regardless. If we lose elite players, our team gets filled up with mediocre players all over the field, rather than having them at a few areas that can be covered up with the play of our elite players.

So, what do you want? A bunch of mediocre players on a mediocre team? Really? Fig that, I want all our stars surrounded by a supporting cast. Like this past year.

We'll be out of the fugged-up contracts soon enough and hopefully we'll still have our superstars and some better talent, through the draft, at skill positions.

This board never ceases to amaze me. Just in this thread alone, I've read that we should be doing business more like the cowboys, redskins, and the browns.

To recap, the redskins have one of the worst defenses and offensive lines in the league, finished with the 2nd worst record in the NFL, and are about to watch the rams use that 2nd pick on either Clowney or Greg Robinson. Jason hatcher and Andre Roberts signed though, here comes their Super Bowl run!!!

The cowboys had the worst defense in the league and just cut their best defensive player. Their biggest signing this offseason is Terrell McClain. Yes, You read that right. This is the same team that has become the wasteland of former panther scrubs. In the last year alone, they have had McClain, Everette brown, corvey Irvin, and nick Hayden, on their roster. Forgive me if I'm not anxious to trade places with them now.

If I have to really go in depth about why we don't want to be the browns....

Still doesn't explain why Gettledouche had to be a total asshole to Smitty and not upfront and honest. Doesn't explain why players all of a sudden have the urge to 'retire', and those FA's we had run like hell to other teams. Doesn't explain that Cam will have nobody to throw to next fall, and nobody to block for him either.

All the black and blue sunshine pumpers around here want to treat Gettledouche like Obama, and not hold him responsible for anything whatsoever.

"Gettledouche"? Seriously?

You are either 12 yo or have the mental capacity of one. Which is it?

Man, these threads are full of information and speculation.

I'm hope'n to have all works out fine.

We all knew that the "cap strapped" thing was going to happen. was going to take a few years to move through. Hell they came right out and said that.

We as fans need to wait and see what happens really.

The Smitty thing aside... what has Gettleman done so far that hasn't helped the team, or lined it up to help in the future?

Hurney's cap issue creations are still around.. that's what Gettleman inherited.

Like most things, like a house, you get a fixer-upper you can afford, and you gradually get to what you want it to be when the money is there to do so.

Until then... keep patching those issues the best ya can.

That's where the Panthers are at now.

Exactly Chris.

Most of us knew the cap hell we were in when Gettkeman came on board. And, most were even saying then that it would take a few seasons to unwind the mess. We were even expecting last year to be a wash. Yet, Gettlrman hit magic with some of the bargain bin players that he signed on one year contracts and we went 12-4.

That success last year gave many a false sense that everything was good and we were on the cusp. Those bargain bin players outplayed their contracts and are now getting paid.

So, actually we are exactly where the logical and sane posters thought we would be. It is going to take tine to get over this.

19 players for 107m cap in 2015 is all that an intelligent person needs to know to show that we are still in dire cap dtraits. The problem is that most huddles are not rational enough right now to accept it.

Yeah no he doesn't get a pass if this team goes back to a losing season.

He has made decision this off-season so far that could cost us back to back winning season. He has a lot of time to get his plan in motion and like he said the cap is liquid.

But if you think being a real fan is accepting mediocre and peaks and valleys season to season. Then that's not the real fan I want to be.

Yeah I don't agree.

This team has a very talented corp and pieces you should be able to build around. Franchise QB and great front 7 should be great starting points for any team.

The winning last season happened because the young QB went to the next level of maturation and the HC finally trusted his team and made better decision.

Last year wasn't a fluke. We have been knocking on the door of a winning record every year since Cam got here. We just never could get over the close game hurdle. Now we kick that bitch down and we should not accept less.

Cool beans then.

I love the fact that when people don't agree with your assessment you get snarky.

Still facts are this team was 6-10 and 7-9 before the 12 -4 season. While going 2-14 in every close game situation. Before last season. The trend shows a better team then the record suggests and that team finally breaking thru.
