Don't blame Gettleman for the trouble we're facing now

Well seeing as he's had no choice because they were over the cap at the time...

Hurney did the same thing, and eventually we paid for it, and that time is now.

Gettleman has already put his stamp on this team. It's his, I surely hope that he doesn't wander around all day blaming Hurney.

Still doesn't explain why Gettledouche had to be a total asshole to Smitty and not upfront and honest. Doesn't explain why players all of a sudden have the urge to 'retire', and those FA's we had run like hell to other teams. Doesn't explain that Cam will have nobody to throw to next fall, and nobody to block for him either.

All the black and blue sunshine pumpers around here want to treat Gettledouche like Obama, and not hold him responsible for anything whatsoever.

Next fall is six months of FA away and we have the draft. How can you possibly think you have the foresight to state as a fact the offense will have no improvements? What are basing of that our FA's ran like hell? There have been zero reports of them ( other then smith ) having ill will.

What Gettleman is doing isn't blaming Hurney. He's taking the troubles he's inherited and trying to juggle long term financial stability with trying to stay competitive today while the team haplessly wades around a molten quicksand pit in the depths of a seemingly inescapable cap hell nobody could figure out how to get out of immediately

We always end up at the salary cap discussion about Hurney, but somehow forget about his terrible drafts. So many wasted picks. As I've said before, if Gettleman cannot build us through the draft, we're going to find ourselves in the same place we were with Hurney.

Even so...  Why dangle the carrot out there in 2013, only to jerk the rug out from under everyone this offseason?

Why would any player want to sign with us long-term knowing this?

Basically, I'm saying if this is going to be our crutch, why even try?  Why not just become the Browns and stop giving a poo?  Fire everyone and sign no one but scrubs.

BUT, we can't do that because this is the NFL.  So, you try to sign players and keep the guys you need to when you get them.  What has happened so far is beyond cap restrictions.  Smitty wasn't purely a cap decision from reports out there.  And out of Mitchell, Ginn, and Munnerlyn, we could've and should've re-signed at least one of them.  But, we didn't.  And who have we brought in so far?  ROMAN fuging HARPER.  LOL.

Yes, we are somewhat strapped cap-wise.  But, the Cowboys and Redskins spend wildly almost every year and still manage to do it again almost every offseason.  I know they are bigger markets, but the point remains.  There are ways around it.  And if we knew this, why not just cut all the big contracts last year and eat the hits this year and get it over with?  Instead, we get teased with a successful season finally, and Gettleman elects to do nothing.

I know this is an emotional time for the huddle and most of us are talking in absolutes when we usually wouldn't (I know I am), but in all honesty, it doesn't have to be THIS bad.

Does anyone else find it odd that give Gettleman all the praise when we are doing well and give Hurney all the blame when things don't go our way?

I'm not saying Getts is the devil who deserves all the blame. I'm just suggesting that it seems some people will defend GMan no matter what and some people will hate him for things beyond his control.

Maybe we could find balance somewhere on this issue.

There are people who would make excuses for Gettleman if he whipped his junk out and pissed all over the media at a press conference.

the only questionable or debatable move is tagging Hardy. (well besides the smitty pr fiasco but thats beside the point)

I want to know what his long term goals are especially with CJ. This is going to be the same situation next year and possibly the next because we HAVE to be able to sign Cam and Luke.

if one of them walks can you imagine the shitstorm? people are freaking out over Mitchell, Ginn and Munnerlyn.

I would never come back to this place if we couldn't afford Cam or Luke. It would be unbearable.
