JayClay on Hakeem Nicks: "looks like he's taking a 1 year deal somewhere" EDIT: Correct vid now

If I were him I'd be pretty nervous to come here. If he signs here he will immediately become the hero. The savior. He was already going to have some pressure on him by coming here but with the way things went down this week that pressure increases significantly.

Why do people keep bringing up pressure nicks will face in carolina? Nicks was in New York which is way more media intense, where he had to perform as the number 1 receiver. He also performed in the most pressure situation possible in the superbowl. Nicks coming to carolina will be a cakewalk compared to that. Any anyway, he could care less about being any type of savior. He just wants to perform to his abilities and then get his payday next year.

If clayton is right, and Nicks wants to put up big numbers to gain leverage on a big contract in the future, then this is not the type of offense he's going to want to play for. That sounds more like the colts. Or possibly even the chargers.

He can get better numbers as the unquestioned number 1 in this offense then he can being 2 or 3 in Indy and SD.

There are some real questions for both sides of the deal. If we did offer good money, why turn away? If we didn't offer him a contract, why not? Nicks thinks he's worth more than he might be actually worth. I think the draft is really weighing heavily on the FA WR market. Sent from my VS980 4G using CarolinaHuddle mobile app

Maybe, but another advantage of playing with those teams is playing against weak AFC defenses. Plus luck throws the ball like what, 35-45 times a game? Cam throws between 20-30.

This is what Carolina has going for it.  It's proven itself to be a great stepping off point for 1 year contracts this past season.  Almost everyone who took a one year deal last year is getting paid much more this year.

If I'm a player and I see how Carolina has created riches and stability for a plethora of forgotten players, then if I had to take a 1 year deal....I'm going to Carolina.

If he is indeed open to a 1 year deal, I think Carolina is the ideal spot for that. In Indi, he'll be playing along side Wayne and Hilton, but here he would be the unquestionable featured WR only sharing catches with Olsen and probably a rookie #2. If the idea is to showcase himself for 1 year to land a big contract, here is the best spot for it.

yes that makes perfect since. And if he was to show out and get a big contract elsewhere then we'll at least have another year to find a replacement.
