What if Gettleman is trying to sabotage Cam?

you've been looked over for a GM job a decent amount of time and finally land a position with one of the greatest talents in the NFL...  but due to some beef you would throw all of that away just to lose your only shot?

makes perfect sense...

IMO, Gettleman knew this team was in cap trouble.  He started clearing house last year cutting guys like James Anderson and trading Beason. He brought in a bunch of scrubs during FA, if I remember correctly he waited until after march 20th to start signing guys like Ginn and Mitchell.  Gettleman filled the roster with guys that couldn't even find homes early in free agency, He figured Ron Rivera was a lame duck coach and once the team went 6-10 or 7-9, they would fire Ron and He would gut the roster to clear cap for the 2015 and beyond.

Only thing is the team over performed and he still is sticking to his plan, I remember when he said something no the lines of being cap strapped until either 2015 or after 2015 season.

Only thing I can think of is, Gettleman is not going to sign any big contracts until he gets Cam and Luke extend and then be able to get Double Trouble's contracts off the books and then maybe even CJ's trimmed down some.  With the cap jumping 10 mil the next two (20+ the next 2 years), Gettleman has a complex plan the is beyond my comprehension.

I just hope 2014 is not another 2010, I don't think I have one of those years left in me.

He hasn't liked Cam from the start, right? Remember when he was first asked about whether Cam was a franchise quarterback? It's incredibly easy to read Gettleman. The same negative body language he used when talking about Smitty since the offseason started is what he's used in the past when referring to Cam. What if he's trying to set Cam up for failure so he can run him out of town? No receivers, no offensive line, no competitive attempt to go after anyone to help Cam out so far, leaving Shula in place. Cam's contract expires after 2015. Sure does make one wonder...

When Cam's jerseys are removed from Panthershop.com get back to me.

Otherwise, STFU.

Maybe Gettleman still isn't convinced of that for some idiotic reason. How many of these old Cam haters from 2011 have really changed their minds? Maybe he has been one all along.

This is Gettlemen's first and very likely last chance to work as a NFL GM, his dream job that he has waited for a long time. The idea that he would greatly risk that by sabotaging his Qb is ridiculous. Your basing this of less then three days of FA

Is it? GMs have tried sabotaging QBs that weren't their guys in the past. Gettleman seems to have a vindictive streak to him. I don't know.

Schiano-Freeman backs that up even though that's coach not GM, still the same concept.

What he have here today is a product of old guys retiring and bad drafting. We shouldn't be here today lamenting the loss of Smitty with such hopelessness for the immediate future. The offense truly was in need of a massive overall and injection of youth. Now we have no choice but to address it.

If the D hadn't been in such bad shape too all this time maybe things wouldn't look so bad. Hopefully things will go as well as it did for the D in finding pieces like Luke, Star and Short.
