Think Gross knew what was coming?

Gross himself stated that Gettleman asked him to come back and play this year.

He also stated that he didn't like Gettleman last year when Gettleman asked him to void his contract. Gettleman only wanted him back this year bc he was a pro-bowl LT last year and I'm sure Gettleman offered some cheap-ass contract that was very easy to turn down by Gross.

Also said he did like him now, and said nothing to the effect that the Panthers lowballed him (quite the opposite).

Go back and watch his presser.

I suggested this and got burned for it

Yea because you keep saying dumb poo like....

"Marty Hurney didn't tag Hardy"....

When really he tagged Peppers for 16.7 million and then still lost him for nothing. So yes Hurney has done the equivalent of what is going on now.

Also people keep saying we lost Smitty, Mitchell, etc. without their replacement when you want to let hardy walk with guess what? Not having a replacement for him.

Gotta love the sound logic flying around.

A lot easier to like a guy when you no longer have to work with him. But doesn't change the fact that Gross didn't want to void his contract last year and Gettleman basically turned it into a retirement year for him.

We do have depth at DE that we don't have at WR and S.

Depth != 15 sacks + all his pressures

Hardy is way more important to the defense than Mitchell/Munnerlyn and looking at the contracts they got.....yeaaaaaa i'll take Hardy.

Except he still wants to work with him  Just not as a player.

Gross has expressed a desire to work in some capacity for the Panthers.  Not as a coach, but in the offices.

If he dislikes Gettleman as much as you think, why continue as part of the organization?

Gross already stated that last year was very tough on him physically and he didn't want to deal with that for another year. I don't see Gross refusing to play for millions and for a sport and players he loves unless he truly wanted out.

wow.   for the first time in Panthers history we have a GM willing to make the hard choices and play the game the hard way and our fans are so clueless, faithless, and nutless that they actually dream up threads hypothesizing that veterans decide to retire prematurely rather than expose themselves to a working environment where average people lose their jobs in favor of the opportunity to replace them with above average people.

THE HORROR!!!  RUN FOR THE HILLS JORDAN!!!

this place is bat-sheet crazy

I was just referring to his not liking him comments as evidence that he didn't want to void his contract.
