Ginn to Arizona, 3 yr deal

From one of our writers earlier, I can't remember which one, he suggested that we did at least make an offer to Ginn, unlike Mitchell and Munnerlyn.  And yet, Ginn still chose Arizona.

Considering they have a shitty QB and a better WR corps, and an established return man in Peterson...  I have to wonder if the Smitty situation had any effect on his decision?  I mean, it couldn't have just been money...  And it seems like regardless, he would have a chance at a much bigger role here.

I dont understand your doom and gloom and your clear hatred towards Gettleman. It is clearly obvious that the Panthers did not offer as much as Arizona. Ginn even said in his press conference that he was shocked that it even got to this point with Carolina and thought a deal would get done. That does not sound like someone who got offered the same contract by Carolina and Arizona and chose Arizona.

On a side note I can completely understand not signing Captain and Mitchell. Both of those contracts were too rich for my taste and I have faith in Gettleman to do what he did last year and replace both of them. I laughed out loud when I saw that Captain got pretty much 5 million a year. But i will say that i would have given Ginn this contract. We didn't just lose a slot WR, we also lost a KR and PR. Hopefully there is a reason they wouldn't go this high and we will see some new people signed soon.

From the numbers I posted above, he just got $4.75m per from the Cards. Given that La Canfora reported we were reportedly offering Nicks $4.5m per, I would wager he made A LOT more by signing with Arizona.

Numbers aside...  I was posing a serious question, as we are unaware of what he was offered by Gettleman, other than a local writer tweeting that him signing with Arizona was a huge disappointment and loss for us.  So, I was assuming money was fairly even...

That being said, you then state you don't understand my "doom and gloom" and "hatred towards Gettleman" then say Ginn said in his own presser after signing with Arizona that he was basically surprised that we didn't make much of an attempt to get him back...  We're now over 5 players lost in FA and none gained from last year's 12-4 team, and most, all big contributors and mostly starters.  Gettleman is lowballing everyone and their mother and just cut our greatest player in franchise history, and you don't understand why I'm down on him right now?  LOL.  You answered your own question.

Correct I do not understand your doom and gloom. I would not touch Mitchell or Captain at the contracts they got. I am not giving Mitchell the same exact contract pretty much as Godfrey and regret it down the line. I might be in the minority but I think Captain sucks. I can go on and on with all the reasons of why I think Captain is as awful as I do but I won't. The only issue I have had was Ted Ginn but I am not going to go nuts about it and turn on Gettleman. Would I have signed Ginn absolutely, but not going to go nuts over a guy that was cut by two teams and we signed to a 1 year deal last year when no one wanted him. That just proves to me maybe Gettleman actually knows what he is doing. So correct I wanted to keep GInn but still think you are being absolutely ridiculous.

When it comes to Smith, I am not against it at all. It was finally time to move on. I am not going to go into detail since this thread is about Ginn, but literally have no issues at all with Gettleman except for Ginn. And again with that I am not going to give up on the season over Ted Ginn.
