Get use to seeing Goodson all over the place

I appreciate the logic police on expectations.

Uhh, it's called rookies. Of course they have to prove themselves. Of course they need to make it thru training camp.

I'm having fun with the new season and making a prediction of where I see him playing.

Not saying Goodson is Darren Sproles or whatev...

I am tempering my expectations for him. Realistically, no matter how much potential he has, there isn't much room for him in the offense. We have two of the best backs in the league to cover the ground game, and two very reliable receivers. I don't expect Goodson to see significant time in his rookie season; I think he will get a similar amount of field time as Dwayne Jarrett got this past season.

Well, let's try this again...

I will take a gentleman's bet with anyone on Goodson's production this year.

At least 15-20 catches

200-300 yds rec

200-400 yds rushing

500 kick returns

350 punt returns

heck I will throw in 15 tackles on special teams

I'm taking the bet. If Goodson gets better than this in four of these catagories or more, I owe Pstall a meal and drink of choice at a place and time of his choosing. If he fails to perform this well in at least 3 catagories, Pstall owes me the same. Performing well in three of these catagories is an even push and the bet is a stalemate.

Let's hope I loose this bet miserably! :cheers2:

See thats where your wrong. If he lives up to the hype he could be a KR/PR guy and also be the double threat at the RB pos. You can ever have enough guys that can do several things. Thats for sure.

Well he seems like he can run the draw pretty well. That should serve him well as the 3rd down back for us.

Oh wait, Henning isnt around to bash anymore. He's in Miami taking credit for something that is the new thing in the league, that DeAngelo actually did better, the year before.

I don't even think he'll be a 3rd down back, we already have williams/stewart splitting carries so it's not like they are going to be winded. I think he gets most of his touches through the air with a few random carries throughout the season.

Goings was very versitle but became limited due to age/injuries. He just didn't have it anymore. I think goodson will pickup where goings left off.

For arguments sake, lets say Goodsen ends up being this hybrid freak that can run, catch, and make defenders miss from several different positions on the field. My question is: Will Fox let Davidson open up the offense enough to utilize a talent like that?

Fox will notice talent when its there. The question is, will Goodson be given a chance to show that the talent is there, and will he live up to the potential if and when that chance is given?

I'm not sure how open the offense would need to be for the offense to throw to a RB on third down. That's not exactly the most aggressive thing out there.

Will Davidson take run reps from two of the better backs in the league to give a rookie RB pass reps as a receiver? That's what the question ends up being. Chances are, Goodson's strengths fit best when this team's in the spot it wants to be least - behind.

Let's face it, we don't exactly have the most creative coaching staff around. They will stick with what worked so well last season until it stops working (something I don't anticipate will happen this season). His ability to be a returner is also in question. As far as I can see he didn't show any spectacular ability as a returner in college and it will be tough for him to uproot Robinson (though I'd love to see it happen...Ryne is soft).

I agree that you can never have enough guys that can do several things, and I think this kid has a very bright future as a Panther. I just think he won't see much time this season. There's nothing wrong with that. We have all the weapons we need on offense and he would benefit from a year of developing behind D-Will and J-Stew. For now, the offense won't change much from last season. It's the defense that needs work.
