Nicks visiting the Colts tonight

got a good feeling it's us with Ginn signing. otherwise Charlotte will go full riot mode

I don't see any reason the two would be linked. Ginn isn't a #1 WR, Nicks can be. It's not like if we lost out on Decker and turned our attention to Nicks. If anything has happened in the last few hours it's that we upped our offer to keep him from signing with Indy.

valid point. However, I think Gman knows he is losing options fast- Ginn would have been good to sign back bc he knows the system - don't want a completely new group of guys

Gman knows Nicks and they have likely been talking numbers for awhile,

my guess is we get Nicks, LaFell, x-player, plus y-draft pick.

Plus Bill Voth just tweeted this:

I don’t believe Ted Ginn playing elsewhere was part of the plan. That’s gotta be a disappointing loss for the #Panthers.

Long time Panther fan here, but new to the board.. I was curios as to what others thought our back-up plan could be if we do miss out on Nicks.. Would anyone be in favor of picking up a mid level receiver like James Jones or Santonio Holmes, and then selling out in the draft to find some way to pick up Sammy Watkins.. I know the likelihood of this happening is about 0.1%, but what would be the reaction to this scenario??

You know how you get to a family party late and most of the mac-n-cheese is gone but for some dregs. I mean you look at the pan and perhaps could salvage something out of it if you scrape the sides and all that. Well that's how I feel about having to put James Jones, Santonio Holmes, Kenny Britt and Sidney Rice on a beautifully sculptured, Panther Blue, granite pedestal.  We've basically got to get a mid-level WR or two just to get by. Now selling out to get Sammy Watkins? Nah, man. THat was Hurney's problem; always trying to be cute with this years draft at the expense of the following year.  Now that we've caught up, I'd just assume stay where we are and let G-man do what  he says that he can do, and that's scout and root out talent. With this year's draft being lauded as the deepest in years (particularly at positions of need), then Gettleman shouldn't have any problem getting us a franchise-type WR, as well as a really good one.

Hey we won games because of our defense. Hey I have an idea! Maybe we are looking to upgrade the the players that we have on offense! Like maybe they sucked and limited us, and now we are going to get new players!

But wait, we aren't adding anyone in the first 2 days of FA. What are we doing?!

Oh yeah! Maybe we don't have the cap to overpay for A NAME on a jersey. Instead, we will be smart and wait to get another player who is just as good! Wow! Just wow dude this is just hitting me! Maybe this is where talent evaluation comes in!? Like its not as easy as picking "the best FAs" on NFL.com!!

Do you guys wanna overpay and be in cap hell the rest of our lives, or do you want solve the problem. I'd rather bring in cheap guys, build YOUNG around cam, and fix this cap

Even if we sign him, how excited are you going to be when we've already lost what we have to other teams?

Still no one to block for Cam.

Don't want LaFail back, so we'd only really have a #1 in Nicks, and that is still debatable, and I want him here...

I'm convinced we will not get a player of Mitchell's caliber to replace him at safety.  Godfrey is a sieve...  Looking forward to that.

Stuck with two aging RBs, one who can't get off the stationary bike.

Need CBs, and Captain is likely gone...

Sounds like a winning formula.

Valid points but signing nicks beats the alternative.
