There can be no doubt: Gettleman is in charge

I just hate it takes years to get out of this mess. The Panthers have to be one of the most cash strapped under talented teams in the league.

We could be the Cowboys...

But to OP's point its good that G-man has total control over the roster moves.  I don't like all the decisions but as a fan I don't have to.  as long as he does things that in the end make us better then good.

My only concern is that he may have the old school look to the future mentality when we all know this league doesn't jive with that anymore.  You can attempt it but you damn well better be successful in the interim.  NFL = Not For Long

Cash strapped and under talented? Please name me one? Now there are a bunch of teams that have Money and no talent.

You implied we're short in talent and I don't think that could be any further from the truth.

Do we have holes and needs? Of course, but we have one of the best young cores in the NFL.

we have MAJOR, MAJOR talent on this team and at key pieces. Like many teams that have major talent and are cash strapped.

i swear releasing smith has made people think we just went to the worst team in the league. I hate it too but im not delusional

it's a new era with Keek and Newton running the team, as much as I'll miss Smitty, I look forward to the coming years.

Hopefully we won't have any more fist fights in spring training and will increase our points per game. i love 89 and his fire but the team is evolving and we need younger, bigger WR corps...even if it takes the rest of the off season to assemble it.

Yea the Cowboys and the Skins are about the only two teams that might be worse(Im not really sure of that) and both of those teams have the same problem.

At this point Hurney took us to a SB and 3 playoff game with one of the worst gameplans out there for a GM. Even if DG does take it old school, old school for a GM works not so much for a head coach.

I wouldn't say we're under talented, but when you have serious holes (we've had at least two or so every year under Hurney) and you can't sign anybody at all to fill them because you need to restructure like 5 contracts just to get under the cap, there's a problem.

The biggest myth I've heard on this board was probably that Hurney was a "cap genius".

The owner isn't going to spend any extra dime to improve or win, even if we had the cap space.  Hope the son of a bitch is sitting with his blanket over him in December looking at 30,000 empty blue seats, he likely will since Cam will have nobody blocking for him or anyone to throw the ball to, if he isn't hurt by then.

Cry me a f'n river!  Give it a rest!  There's a reason he's in charge and you're not.  Because he's got the sack to make the hard decisions to ultimately get us out of cap hell and improve FOR YEARS TO COME.  This juvenile whining is obnoxious.

On defense for sure but we are def lopsided. Keeping Cam injury free and upright is going to be a challenge this year even if we have a awesome draft.

It has nothing to do with Smith for me. Losing Gross was more of a blow I thought than Smith.

I'd take you view a step further, how about old school conservative Coordinators that hem up one of the most electric young players in the league?  How long does that get to last?

While I will agree Shula was old school I think he did well with the talent he had. This year will really test his system and what he can do with even less talent.
