What FA did we bring in last year that's getting a big payday this year? Because that's the message we sent, in addition to even if you play your but off during your one year deal here, we don't have the money to sign you to a big deal the next year. Uuuuhhh...Mike Mitchell, Ted Ginn Jr, technically Captain Munnerlyn since he was a free agent last offseason too. 

 

All three got big paydays after playing one year in Carolina on modest contracts.

 

Being seen as a good place to prove yourself and earn a big deal, even if it isn't with us, is not a bad thing.

Because not everybody's coming out of free agency with a big payday this year.

 

After week one, the big paydays tend to be over unless you're a big name.

 

Guys looking for jobs now will accept "prove it" contracts.  And guys working on "prove it" contracts tend to give a lot of effort.
