Smith gone due to being outspoken about Shula

Smith is right but you can't do that in the locker room....just like at work when someone talks crap about the boss constantly and it gets back to the top, they usually hit the door pretty quick....just sayin

Apparently we're interested in LaFell again. So we cut Smith and are trying to sign LaFell.

back then he was a top-5 WR.

Now he might not be a Top-5 #2.

back then they were real antics. He didn't punch Shula, but maybe he should have.i think it would have more legit on these terms to get rid of him then more so than now.It is clear this is more than business.

Not quite sure if you're attempting sarcasm or not, to be honest...  I'll assume you are...

We both know Smith would never be outspoken to the media...  Would never be outspoken about his role in the offense...  Would never be aggressive towards teammates...  Would never be a poor mentor to young players...

Now, sarcasm aside, I love me some Smitty, and I hate to see him go as much as anyone...  But that report is one I can believe, from a position of what the FO may feel he brings to the locker room...  And if that's their feeling, I can understand their wanting to move forward...

I was being sarcastic. I feel the FO could have handled this better if what I read is true.

Smith is right SMH shula is terrible! Newton thrived with steve!! Luke thrived with steve!! They are just pulling shyt out their ass man...Thanks gettleman for signing NO ONE of significance allowing for our rivals to thrive in the offseason as we "let our foundations go"  I bet thats why so many players are retiring because of gettlemans attitude

You mean those times when he was also one of the top WR's in the game....as opposed to now when he is aging, slowing, and much less production.

You are still in love with the Smitty of old....not the WR that he really is now.

as usual you have it wrong.I would have gotten rid of him back then in a heart beat compared to now.

I most definitely agree with you on that one...  The FO could have handled this much better...  Unfortunately, league wide, things like this are rarely handled the way they (the player) deserve them to be handled...  Or at the very least how we, as fans, feel they deserve to be handled...

I love this aging, slowing, much less production line.

THIS PAST SEASON: The guy completely took over the first half of the NE game, disrupted their defense and completely took away their their #1 corner (Talib was benched for a short time), he still drew coverage away from other receivers constantly, he was a 3rd down machine (Miami, many other games he kept drives alive with 3rd down catches), he caught the only TD we had in the playoffs, he threw the STL defense off by getting in their heads. Sure, he is not a #1 WR, or even a #2, he'd be a great slot guy, which is what he wants to do in the first place. If reports are correct that the Panthers didn't even talk restructure/pay cut with him then don't even bring up production. It's all about these 'atics' that we're hearing about, and 'locker room personality'.

I agree that it is all about the antics and personality.....combined with the fact that his production now does not outweigh those apparent issues.

I'm ready for a fuging clear explanation officially from the team. Give me a fuging explanation and I'll understand. Tell me something officially, tell me why and I'll understand and move on and not be pissed.

Not this bull fuging poo leaks from Ian Rappaport, not this silence where we remove his jersey from the team store and the team website, where Panthers entire social media effort is pretending like the all-time greatest Panther is not being treated with complete disrespect as if he's fuging Dwayne Jarrett, or Ryne Robinson, or Armanti Edwards or the 10 page list of all the jokes we've brought in at WR.
