Smith gone due to being outspoken about Shula

Mike Martz on NFL Network explained that Smitty had lost a step and added that he is a small, speed WR. "When they go (drop off), they go fast" He meant that they pretty much hit the wall and are done.

I heard (probably from one of you) that Smith was telling Cam NOT to do what Shula instructed him to do.

Not sure Mike Martz is an unbiased source regarding Steve Smith.

Mike Martz is a fuging idiot. Yeah, Steve lost a step, but it wasn't like he only had 400 receiving yards.

Yes, he wears the Scarlet X (Clown).

I have heard that before, however. What I heard was that a speed WR usually hits the wall at age 32.

Yeah, Steve's bound to go at some point. He's definitely been an exception to that rule so far, though - I think he can have a few more good years in a better system where he can play slot.

But, people still think we should be paying him like a #1.

His production is not worth his antics and cost.

no i think what people are saying is we don't have any other options and cutting him has put us in panic mode to land Hakeem Nicks. What if we don't land him?

WHAT THE fug! SHULA IS poo! HOW IN THE fug DID WE KEEP SHULA OVER SMITH!

Can't wait for us to go 4-10 and fire Shula, maybe even Rivera, and Gettlemen gets to bring in his own crew. I just hope Cam sticks it out.

We don't know both sides but Smitty's camp has said he was willing to restructure and play in the slot

Do you actually think that Smitty's personality and ego would allow him to take a more passive presence on this team and in the locker room?  No way.

Been said....not about the money.  So, there must have been real big issues with his antics.

Strange indeed.
