The root of the problem is Joe Person.  He has given out so much bad information since joining the CO as the Panthers beat writer.  Do you think Gettlemen would actually say to anyone that Smith is a locker room problem if he was trying to trade him?  That may be true to a degree, but I believer Person is just making poo up again.

Ultimately their decision to move on from Smith can be justified. The problem is they could, and should have, handled it better and discussed it with Smith from the beginning instead of burning the bridge.

Shula was not my favorite, but there are not many OC's who would succeed with 1 viable WR and a makeshift OL.

I'm sensing that this might be a make or break year for Shula.

He was underwhelming last year (i think we were 26rd in total offense) with a better roster than Chud had when we were 7th (2011) and 12th (2012).

 

I don't want Chud back, but Shula should have gone this offseason for the dropoff in production alone.

 

It takes two to get a divorce, and neither Smitty or the Panthers are blameless.

Mike Martz on NFL Network explained that Smitty had lost a step and added that he is a small, speed WR.  "When they go (drop off), they go fast"  He meant that they pretty much hit the wall and are done.

 

I heard (probably from one of you) that Smith was telling Cam NOT to do what Shula instructed him to do.
