Smith gone due to being outspoken about Shula

im giving Shula one more year to prove himself before i turn on him. i just hope he, Rivera, and Gman give our offense the line and weapons to make it happen. if we dont have adequate weapons, it wont matter how good Shula's gameplan is or isnt.

I am not a Shula fan but hell what can I do about it? I know we did not have the best of weapons but our offense looked pretty good two years earlier with basically the same personal with the exception of Shockey and Ginn

Your boss may or may not actually be bad at his job.

Regardless, if you actively seek to undermine him, you get fired.

If the stuff being said by these guys is true, that's what happened.

Yea you are correct but at this point we do not know exactly what happened so we should just move on. It may very well played out that way..I really do not know.

I do know we could have had Gross another year if we would have played our cards right last year which is a little upsetting

I have quit arguing this point because many of you will never be convinced otherwise but our offense wasn't bad last season. It can get better for sure but we were pretty efficient and scored TDs on a fairly high % of our possessions and had a very low turnover rate.

this is why im willing to give Shula another season before i turn on him. he needs time and weapons to develop a prolific offense

From the things Gross said in his farewell presser, I get the impression he was pretty well set that it was time to go.  They did try to change his mind, but to no avail.

And yeah, it's possible there is something to the theory that losing Gross as a buffer may have spelled the end for Smith.

Shula ran a near perfect offense for what Rivera wants. Just needed some extra explosive plays

It actually is pretty amazing how good we were per offensive touch considering our OL couldn't run block.

Shula isn't an issue. You may not like that style but it works. I get people that don't like the style.....but Shula wasn't the issue. Give him a little more talent up front and we will be better.

Seattle, SF etc aren't running better offenses. They have offensive lines..... Which is the difference in us and them

Honestly the way smitty went out is symbolic of his entire career.

I think a lot of these reports have a shred of truth to them about 89.

But the thing Greg hardy said on espn about smitty giving a speech in the locker room about its time to win and if you don't like what it takes you have to answer to me, kind of brings doubt about him not being a team player last year.

I don't know what to think. 89 was a big presence, cam needs to fill that void now

Haven't read past the first page, so sorry if this is redundant.

I can believe this story. Smitty isn't one to keep his mouth shut for the sake of not stepping on toes. He's going to let you know what he thinks. And he seems to be right, based on what we have seen. The offense is good enough to stay in games, and maybe even win if we break off a few big plays, but it's not designed to win games. At least, from what I can tell. Then again, it could have been that we just didn't have the right pieces to make it work better.

We need WRs in a bad way. Can't run ANY offense with JUST 1 tight end and a handful of unproven guys that were DEEP on the depth chart and on the practice squad. Gotta address that soon. I'm not panicking just yet, but it is concerning.
