So........... was keeping Hardy worth all this?

The response you made was to my quote. You didn't delineate your addressed statements, That was your fault. I withdraw my retaliation, so you don't have to act so ass hurt. I will absolutely respond when I am attacked first. I was calling you out because you made it seem like you were attacking me. Nothing wrong with that. BTW I'm in graduate school funny guy. "that elusive C-" doesn't cut it in my world. As you were.

Go ahead, respond when you're attacked. Doesn't bother me. I didn't attack you.

I was talking about Gettleman, and I had attributed him in the previous sentence. It wasn't about you, so the whole "fight or flight" poo just wasn't necessary. You're not the one fuging up the offense.

Yep.

Even if we traded Hardy we wouldn't have matched Mike Mitchell's offer from the Steelers.  OL would have retired anyway.  Ginn's replaceable.  Barner might be the answer there.  Quentin Mikell is the logical resign for Mitchell.  I thought he was our best safety down the stretch.  The 49ers couldn't move the ball on us in the playoff game until he got hurt.  We can get him for a lot less then we could have Mitchell too. It's very possible that Dockery is better then we know.  He's been on the team for a few years now we just haven't seen him much.  Lester had a strong rookie year and will only get better.  Melvin White also should develop more.  Godfrey is still on the team.  He's not perfect....but he's a solid player when healthy.  Munnerlyn might be back still.

Their are obvious LT and depth concerns along the offensive line.  There are guys that we can get early in the draft.  It would make sense to me...if they either trade up or down in the draft.  Maybe we could get two second rounders and draft James and Richardson.  Trade Steve Smith and a 4th for a 2nd then double down on OL.  At this point I think we almost need to resign Lafell....especially if Ginn leaves.  Lafell would probably play better knowing that he is the veteran WR, and we need someone at receiver who played on the team last season.  Someone to help new WRs with the offense during games and has a rapport with Cam.

rd 1  Kelvin Benjamin/Brandin Cooks

rd 2  Juwan James

rd 2 Antonio Richardson

It's not the end of the world.  We can still be very good next year.

not sure about Barner nor Captain, but for the most part I'm kinda agree

 Are you serious?

He's and CJ are the best 4-3 ends in the game.  They just happen to be on the same team.

You and I both know that Hardy is the 1st best on 90 percent of other teams.

I don't think he's the #1 on 90% of teams to be honest.

Regardless, how much of our starved cap is being thrown at the DE spot? Is it worth starting Bill McNobody at WR and Darrell Scrubb at LT for a couple of seasons?

Some of the try-hards on here who are preaching patience would have probably been wonderful people telling those aboard the Titanic as it sank, "It's OK! We can still make it!"

I'm not arguing against the idea that we could add some big-time players this offseason. What I'm mad about most is that there seems to be no sense of urgency OR direction with some of these. Who were we going to get that's better than Mitchell? Wait, I forgot: The answer is already on the roster. Or it's an UDFA.

*makes jacking-off motion*

excellent answer!

Who gives a poo about offense and point-scoring? Did you see that defense? We held those bastards to a field goal, AND Hardy got a sack!

To clarify I don't mean Barner replacing Ginn as a receiver.  I mean in the return game.

I know... just not so sure about the little guy. not saying he can't but time will tell. i hope whoever is back there does great. it was critical last season.

BIG mistake of franchising Hardy. Why do you think he signed the tag so quickly. All of the young FAs have gone between $8-9 million. We should have let him test the market and signed him long term for probably $10-11 million. We are now paying him 50% over market on a 1 year contract and he has no incentive to sign long term if he still wants CJ money. He can holds us up again next year.

I'll attribute it to the seemingly gradual increase in tension on the board over the past couple of days. My fault.

I really don't think a wr lineup of  Nicks, Benjamin/Cooks, Lafell, and Mcnutt sound that bad to be honest.  We are going to address Tackle in the draft. There's no guarantee that one of those recently sign FA LT's are even worth their contracts yet.

Difference in opinion I guess, IMO Nicks isn't anything special, LaFell isn't under contract and McNutt was thrown at once last season and couldn't make the catch. Excited about a high draft pick but not sure we'd even go WR first as we have holes everywhere right now.

I actually like Hardy but don't think he was worth franchise tag money.
