bomani jones gave a big shoutout to steve smith in his winners segment on around the horn.

 

mentioned that, in 2005 and 2008, smith lead the league in several stats while playing on a team that never passed (something we've discussed a lot on here). called him one of the most underrated receivers of all time.

i do know for a fact sometime during early-mid season smitty told EVERYONE that would listen- "I WANT THE GOD-DAM BALL". cam, ron, mike, jerry, don, peanut guy, etc. 

 

 

we know now its a chemistry issue, and don views smitty as toxic acid.

 

sad that don dave is made to be the bad guy, when i'm SURE ron, cam, others leaders/future players could speak up in favor for smitty.

Think about this guys. There really must have been issues in the locker room and behind the scenes...why would the franchise make this decision (with the ensuing shitstorm) if there weren't.

Dude, that is now the same as a paycut. Restructures usually doesn't mean a player takes less, it's just moved around. The guy flat out doesn't earn what he's paid. I don't blame him for not taking a paycut but don't think it's the same thing.

Edit: misread your post - my mistake. I agree a restructure usually doesn't include a pay reduction.

Sad to see Smitty go, but it was time.  Gotta get a #1 here, asap though. 

 

Thanks for all you've done, Smith. Became a Panther/football fan the same year Smith was a rookie in the league.  He's my favorite player.  Please don't go to Atlanta or Tampa.
