And for those who are saying production over loyalty, Smitty is still going strong as ever. Sure, his stats fell off a little last year but what do you expect with who he had on the other side. If you saw that catch against SF, you'd know he still has a lot in the tank. 

 

So he is going as strong as ever....even though the stats don't show it.

I'd take that production every year if I could get it....especially since this year we played ball control offense.....ignorance...pure ignorance.

 

You do realize that based on his career trend he would have about 425 yards  and 2 touchdowns next year

Here is my take on all this. DG is doing his job. Whether Smith found this out by media or by DG himself. It does not matter. What does matter is DG is doing this for the future of this team. DG was left with a cap that was a mess made by Hurney. DG is doing everything to keep this team above water until Dwill and Stewart contracts can be throwed out the door. But it seems some people just don't understand or just don't care on how DG is doing business.Most people should understand be now that the next few seasons is going to get worse before it gets better. I wouldn't be the least surprise if we go below .500 again. Bottomline we must give DG our support and trust that he knows what he is doing. He has been a part of teams that has won 6 SBs combine. So DG knoows what he is doing. I'm sure the same people bitching today will be praising his name 2 years from now when we have a great offense and great defense that is getting us to the playoffs every year. But until then we have to endure through the hard times before it gets better. If you can't stand it then be a bandwagon fan and move to a team with a SB winning team already. As a Panther fan I will always stick with my team through the bad times and the good times. I love Smith and he has been a great player for us. But time moves on. We will be fine and it ain't the end of the world.

Assuming Gettleman has some intern on the staff that he says hey go call Steve Reed and Joe Person and tell them a little birdie says we are shopping Steve smith is ridiculous.

Any team they called could have leaked it. Any janitor walking by during a phone call could have leaked it.

If you have never heard of a self-fulfilling prophecy, please go look it up. It's when like someone gets told they will die in a week so they stay home to avoid anything that can kill them and their house burns down and they die.

It's possible that one little comment by the GM about evaluating the whole roster turned into Smitty getting pissed and not talking to then, the team saying fug it we are moving on, and this whole thing ending up where it is today, making it seem like there was some rift prior to that moment in time, when in fact there wasn't.

Which reporter asked Gettleman that question? That's the guy I want to slap the poo out of.
