So come over to my side and listen.

If the Panthers are paying $3.6 guaranteed regardless per year, then why not pay SS $4 mill in 2014 as he is clearly a top WR on the list of highest paid WRs, then ask him to restructure or cut him in 2015.  You still lose the same $3.6 mill.  We are obviously not going to pay SS forever, but 2014 is NOT the season to cut him.  It makes no sense.  We can't replace him for that amount of money and we are throwing away $3 mill either in 2014 or 2015.  It really doesn't make sense.

The problem is that his contract has to be sorted out before the 2014 league year starts. You just can't let him play this year under his current contract as it is without it kicking in an additional year of guaranteed money.

I only see 5 that I would take over Smith.  Explain to me how he is over paid again??

$4m is a bargain.  he is costing us 7+.

I wonder how many of these teams would opt out of that contract if they could? I count about 10.

Fact is the 2014 guaranteed money is gone.  We can agree that SS is worth $4 base in 2014, correct?

2015 comes, either SS restructures or is cut.  It costs us $3.6 to cut in 2015, but we get the guy in 2014 and Cam has atleast one WR he has thrown the ball to.  I don't see any benefit other than the $3.6 2015 money in cutting SS this year.

It's not 4 million, it's 7 million. You can't just dismiss the 3 million option that he gets if he is still on the roster without a renegotiated contract. Then it adds an additional year, 2016 that you conveniently leave out that is the kicker in all this.

I'm not arguing there's not a benefit to having his services here. The cost is just too expensive and his current rate.

The problem is that if he isn't cut or restructured by June 1st, his salary balloons into automatic dead money on the cap for '15 and '16 whether he alive or maybe even dead...with the team or without. That's 9 mil in '15 and '12 in '16. You add that to the already retarded dead cap money we owe Stewart and probably Dlo and we won't be able to re-sign Cam.

Do you fudging understand that, you brain dead fuktard!?!?!?

We keep telling you this over and over and over but you still don't understand it and all you keep saying is "we can restructure or cut him later..."

Well, no the rug we can't!!!

Why the heck do you think we're still shelling out close to 20 mil on restructured, cut and traded players that aren't wen on the team anymore??? What the heck don't you understand?!?!?

Understand this.

$3.6 million is guaranteed each year and the rest is base.  If I'm wrong on that then show me I'm wrong, but what I read states $3.6 per year average guaranteed money.  Is he worth $9 million next year?  NO.  Is he worth another $4 this year as the $3 million is DEAD money?  YES

And it is NOT $20 mil.  It's more like $16 mil.

I dislike sheep despite my stage name.

Since you seem rational explain to how we could ever get the $3 million back this year?

In 2015 his base salary jumps to $6 millionish and he is guaranteed $3.6 million making his cap cost $9 million correct?  What is the difference letting him play out the 2014 season then giving the cut or renegotiate option in 2015?  $3.6 million guaranteed  correct?  So, if we cut him in 2015, we lose an additional $3.6 million.  If we cut him in 2014 we lose $3 million plus we have to find a $4 million base WR to replace him that is as good as him.

What am I missing here?  It is a no brainer.
