Bob Poppa on NFL network made a very telling point this morning.Players could not have any contact with teams before 4pm yesterday, including their agents. You saw how many signed contracts within ten minutes of FA and how many more followed suit behind them. These players did not speak to any owners, coaches or toured the facility.Perhaps that is why some teams take a step back during this feeding frenzy. If it is all about the money without regard to scheme, ownership or team then maybe the dedication to their new home leaves something to be considered.

Not true....the timeline for negotiations and FA was changed a year or so ago.

There is a "negotiation period" prior to the 4pm signing time where agents of unrestricted FA's can negotiate with the teams.  They just cannot sign the contracts until 4pm on Tuesday.

Yep ... official discussions started over the weekend.  Unofficial discussions go back to the combine.

For many players, as it would be for most of us, I suspect money is the primary factor in these deals.  Agents get paid a percentage so the sweeter the deal, the more money for them.  The media creates a buzz about a lot of other stuff.

Since we are discussing money, I am happy for Mitchell.  After a solid year with Rivera and McD, he cashed in with the Steelers.  Good for him.
