They do get one of the best LT's in the league back, but I would assume they're hoping they face a less talented D next time.

I don't see that happening to Denver. Manning isn't Vick and they didn't sign screwballs like Asomugha... Ward and Talib are both great additions. All Panthers fans have certain opinions about Talib, but he does have top of the league talent at CB. And if they add Ware too, that would be insane. And if they got all those 3 and kept DRC, oh man, I'm not sure they could be stopped... (yes I saw the Super Bowl....)

What makes you think Talib isn't a screwball compared to Asomugha?  Talib def had more question marks before going to NE than Nnamdi did before becoming an Eagle.

Ware?  The single most overrated player of the decade?  The guy who was racking up an absurd amount of sacks a year while his team struggled to combine for 40?  The guy who never vaulted that defense to a top 10 unit?  Oh right thats because he was a decent pass rusher schemed in a 3-4 designed to always give him a 1 on 1 matchup,  His production immediately fell off a cliff when he had to play as a DE.

 

Seriously any player the Cowboys have that is remotely talented gets put on a pedestal by the media.  Roy Williams (both of them), Terrence Newman, Jay Ratlif, Dat Nguyen, Felix Jones, Marion Barber, Julius Jones... I could go on but won't.  Rule is be very wary of how talented you've been TOLD a Cowboy is.

 

The biggest issue with going on a FA binge is it can cause jealousy and resentment in the lockerroom.  There are guys working their butts off just to get a legitimate chance to compete and all the sudden these guys who have never played or even practiced for YOUR team just show up, making 20x what you are and completely negate any chance you had at showing the NFL that you can play and help teams win.

 

Don't get me wrong, sometimes bringing a top FA or 2 in can help tremendously, but I think thats a better strategy for teams who feel like they are on the cusp of a turnaround, not a bonafide contender.  The Broncos would have made the playoffs without these additions and I'm not saying they won't help the team but moves like this can bite you in the ass.
