Panthers re-sign James Dockery

Recommended Posts

Dock was actually a really solid player for us a few years ago but nonetheless he's a situational player at best.

But I would feel more comfortable with him starting over every other corner on the roster at this point (White, Menzie, Presley, Norman, and Thomas).

He's not situational, I think he'll end up starting with White at some point.

If that indeed happens then God help us. Our defensive line can only help out our secondary so much before a good quarterback with a solid offensive line exposes our secondary.

If the corner position isn't addressed in free agency it sure as hell needs to be addressed in the draft (Fuller would be nice).

There is no way you have Dock over White on any list.

White in 1 year has made more plays then Dock in 3.

If Dock or Thomas start on this team next year Gettelmen should be fired.

Uhhh White was benched at times last year for poor play, on top of that Dockery was the best one-on-one tackler that we had in the secondary over the past two years before we got hurt.

Also it doesn't matter how many big plays you make, it matters how consistent you are, ask Captain Munnerlyn how much money all those pick sixes are helping him rack up.

White played Dock has done nothing but had people talking him up in TC. Which again White was higher on the depth chart then him. Wasn't Dock placed "again" on practice squad while White made the active roster?

Please stop pumping up players who haven't done poo.

Actually Dock got injured last season and consequently was placed on IR.

The year before he played half the season with us after we picked him up of the Browns practice squad (I think???), and he actually played really well. Most would say that he had the best corner play on the roster two years ago.

I feel like you might be getting Dock and Anderson Russell mixed up, could be wrong though.

Clearly you missed the final four games in 2012. Dockery was balling for an UDFA. Hell, he was named a starter during 2013 but an injury forced him to take a backseat. So I really don't comprehend your logic in firing G-Man if James ends up being named a starter.

Was he balling more then White did this year??

Nooooooo!!!!!!

Why is this even a debate?? White maybe the only starter coming back in the Secondary and we're talking about a player he already beat out being better then him. Seriously? ??

Dock hurt his hand in preseason but by most reports White was already pushing ahead of him.

He played the last 5 games of 2012 where we got drilled by Brees and beat on some underwhelming QB'S. So lets not act like he was prime time out there.

Again White made more plays in actually relevant situation. He matched up against a few teams best WR'S on the outside and had a pretty solid rookie year.

Nobody is going to tell me that Dock is better then White I'm sorry.

Dockery was quite raw when arrived to Carolina but Cleveland was trying to stash him on the practice squad for a reason. His intangibles and athleticism are incredibly attractive.

And Dockery still hasn't done poo. While White has made game winning plays for a playoff pushing team.
