the reason behind all of this BS happening is...

No one put up numbers because we didnt have anyone that could.

Pretty much any reciever that went over a 1000 yards last year would have got a 1000 here. People dont want to hear it but Lafell was every bit as good or bad as Smith was last year. You figure he could get a quarter of the crying.

Anyone could put up 1,000 in that offense? We'll find out.

Steve Smith, and Greg Olsen are not scrubs.

You talk as if Steve Smith hasn't gone over 1,000 yards in several seasons. He had nearly 1,200 in 2012. The first season with Mike Shula we went from a top 12 offense to a bottom 8 offense, and that's with basically the same players, and the addition of Ted Ginn. Could it be that we put more of an emphasis on the run game, and in turn receiving numbers went down? Nope, Steve Smith just sucks apparently.

I think we are witnessing the formation of the "Gettlecult". If players perform substandard it's their fault. If players exceed expectations, the credit goes to Gettleman.

If a huddler questions the "Dollar Tree Don" they are considered:

1. An idiot

2. An individual devoid of business sense

3. A person in need of pms medicine

4. A person who is mentally ill

5. A person who isn't a fan of the Panthers.

This is childish and inappropriate.

Gettleman has done nothing in his tenure with the Panthers to deserve the "faith" many of you put in him.

Sure he helped us to a 12-4 record last year. Now it seems he is getting rid of the players that helped us achieve such a record.

I think the trust in Gettleman is misplaced until he manages to procure Ron a team that has back to back playoff apperances.

I want to remind you guys that the jury is still out on Getts before you get back to assuming every move he makes is what is best for the Panthers.

Just wait it out before some of you award him Sainthood.

Gettleman brought in a lot of individuals last year that worked out really well for not a lot of money.

He also had a pretty good draft.

Let's see if he can do the same thing this off season before we hit the panic button.

Maybe Zod can offer some kind of online stress management course or crisis hotline for Panther Fans.

Not a good idea, NoN. Zod is freaking out over our lack of anything resembling an offensive line.

Not everything is Hurney's fault.

Mitchell and Ginn outperformed their one year contracts, and the team can't get into a bidding war over Mitchell. He's a good player, but not great or elite.

but whose fault?

I only disagree with this because I thrive on hearing the panic of how we'll be, "the worst team ever".

Love the way you reworded that.

I say it again.  We didnt have anyone capable of putting "monster numbers"  Your words sorry Steve, sorry Olsen.

Pretty much anyone who did put up a 1000 last year could put up a 1000 here.

More to the point basically we have to replace 45 yards a game to replace Steve Smith.  I dont know how Gettleman going to replace that. Everyone quick get mad because our favorite player is leaving and pretend it is a huge loss to make our point more relevant.

Exactly, he's still new to his job. Mistakes and wrong decisions will be made. These people will follow him off a cliff

45 yards a game? You can't be serious.

It goes far beyond just yards or basic statistics. Don't be so naive, do you watch football? It's the key intangibles. It's about leadership, your teammates being able to count on you to make a play by converting crucial third downs, getting first downs, getting yards after the catch, making clutch catches, or bailing out the quarterback by going up and getting a pass when necessary, or fighting for the ball. It's the things like that which separate elite playmakers from the run of the mill receivers that we could sign for dirt cheap to come in off the street to put up some yards and be just another guy.

That's why your Lafell/Smith comparison is so blatantly asinine. Only one of those players takes the pressure off of the other, and makes plays whether the other is on the field at the same time or not, and that player is not Lafell. He had his chance to show what he was capable of on his own last season in a contract year, and he disappeared completely. He even admitted it was too much for him. Now if you can sit there and tell me that he is the same as Steve Smith, who has literally put the offense on his back more times than not throughout his career here, then you are just deliberately trolling. Which judging by your petty comments, it seems pretty obvious such is the case.

By the way, I did not say Smith or Olsen were incapable of putting up big numbers. Clearly you conveniently skimmed over the part of my post where I pointed out that we had a top offense in consecutive seasons with both of those guys just a few years ago.
