If you believe this, then cutting Smith this year makes no sense.  $3 million guaranteed.  Why not cut or renegotiate in 2015? Furthermore, Gettleman is treating Smith like a chump and is treating this like a personal deal to show everyone that he is now in charge.

and a trade is the only thing that makes sense if you are really trying to free up space by getting rid of your best WR.  Cutting Smitty is a done deal now, but it really doesn't make that much sense in 2014....maybe 2015 it does...but not right now.

You missed that whole part about the FO wanting to move on from the old vet leaders and hand the team off to Cam and Luke... you know "get some young core guys to put around came and devolop" I think that was the exact quote.

It isn't always about money. As much as I love Smith he is a tough pill to swallow and I'll say it again this will never be Cam's team with him on it.
