Smith to 49'ers?

I just don't see how it's legitimate. If it were then as much as I'd rather part with Steve and let him decide what he wants to do (i dont care about some worthless 6th, guy has quite literally carried this team through multiple seasons) you can't turn down putting that contract on them and being free of it.

Still don't think it's legitimate.

We don't play them this year and aren't scheduled to play the NFC West next year either so there's a less than 50% chance we'd ever have to play against him.  The Bucs, Ravens, Eagles (other teams he's been linked to), we obviously play this year.  I couldn't watch and stomach that.  I could stomach the 49ers better than the Patriots.  Take the deal.  Kraken was a 6th rounder.  Still sucks bigtime and I'm heartbroken, but take something over nothing.

I want smith to actually get HOF numbers... not be missed entirely because his QB can't make reads...

I think the HOF number he is missing is # of Super Bowl Rings. He stands a solid chance of getting one there within a very short time period.

Logical choice.

Makes sense. Cali guy, legit SB contender, slot with Crabtree and Boldin outside.

I don't like Kap, but there are worse placed he could go.

Only thing that doesn't fit is him being on the other side of the country from his family and it seems to me he has always made them his priority over anything. He has stated that no matter what happens here, his family is staying in Charlotte.

Agree, pregnant wife only adds to that. But I don't see him retiring and the closest teams are Atlanta, Baltimore?

Baltimore made much more sense to me with its location, and them losing Boldin and Ray Lewis, they could use some attitude infusion.

But, he might be very very close to a Super Bowl with SF and I would figure the team told him they would let him choose if not in our division.

Not sure Smith is ticked off about all this or not, usually, he would speak out forcefully if he thought he was wronged, but he is acting like he has no idea what anyone is talking about, so you'd think he is in on what's going down
