It's that time of the year where we watch all the teams around us get better with signings lol.  Hope we make somewhat of a splash.

For some reason I don't remember... do big signings usually start right away or does it take a couple days?

 

For the other 31 teams, signings are permitted right away. There is something in the by-laws or the charter or something that prohibits the Panthers from making any moves until atleast 2 weeks into free agency.  Then, once that 2 week period is over, there is a limit to the value of the player that the panthers can sign.

 

I'm hopeful the Panthers will make a splash this year with a career backup center or maybe a "special teams ace" at linebacker!!!

Last year Gettleman used free agency to improve our team. Until he screws it up I think he gets the benefit of the doubt. It's not like we have all this extra money sitting around.

The Panthers are most definitely not the only team that tends to sit back and wait when free agency starts.

A fair number of smart teams prefer to avoid the early feeding frenzy. Whereas some of the teams that are regular participantd in it will be in need just as bad this time next year.

If we go into the draft with only a low level name or two added in free agency.....  uh oh.
