The more I've read about all of this, the more I believe that Jordan Gross retiring has significantly accelerated the time-table for saying goodbye to Steve Smith.  Gross has been known to be a calming influence for Steve Smith on the sidelines and in practice.  Without him there, Smith may very well be a time-bomb for any hapless team willing to take him on.

We all appreciate what Smith gave us on the field and we will miss seeing him on Sundays. But damn, some of you need to get a life. If this move really impacts some of you like you say....damn, just damn.

Some people may be a little more attached or sentimental than you.... What's the big deal about that? All I see is people giving the best player in franchise history his due. If you don't like it, find another thread....It's bad enough people are saying goodbye to their favorite player. The last thing they need is some insensitive jerk carping about it. Sheesh.

Smith was one of my favorite Panthers....and I hate that he won't end his career here.

 

But damn....some people posting over the past few days sound like they just had a loved one die and are about to jump off the ledge or slit their wrists.

Although the anger directed at Gettleman is stupid, I don't really blame people for being emotional about Smitty, especially after already losing Jordan Gross too.

Said elsewhere that this September I'll be watching a team I don't recognize taking the field in Panther uniforms.

With Jordan Gross and obviously so many good players leaving this team this is much more that just the end of an era.

No ring as a Panthers.. oh well who care this is just a useless junk and you have a nice and cute family, your best reward.
