Future was spit on and buried using a shovel.

Wow. With our recent "push for the playoffs" Or whatever. We have manage to single handily kill our future. No draft picks. Only one in the late rounds. All for what? To be sweep in the playoffs? Lets be serious we are not good enough to move up to a respectable seed to even think about winning a game let alone a series. I am very disgusted with the choices of this franchise. In a year where our record is boosted due to tanking, injuries and so on. And what do we do? We went with it. Played like fools. MJ can't even lose right smh. Go 7-52 for what? What was the point of that? Oh yes just to give up one year prior to the dream offseason. I will continue to like the "Hornets" but our future will only be an average playoff team at best. No superstars no championship. MJ should know that. And with all the poo talking he does about players around the league we will continue to get snubbed in the FA department. Once again I am at a lost for words on how stupid and uncommited we really are. If you want to win. WHY THE fug DIDIN'T YOU TRADE FOR JAMES HARDEN OR EVEN RUDY GAY. Just wow.

Fans like the OP will never be happy. They are pissed when we are losing and pissed when we are doing well and finally have a team that brings excitement back to charlotte basketball. Do us all a favor and go jump on the heat bandwagon! I rather us fight every night for a chance to have a decent seed in the playoffs, than just give up and tank. With the lottery and the one and dones coming out tanking for the draft doesn't grantee anything.

So what is your point? We are not losing enough games and by losing alot of games is the only way to build a quality team?

I have not heard of one person declare themselves for the draft so what is the point of talking about who we may/may not get.

We have a young team with a rookie coach. Let them mature and gain some experience. Most of them have been broken in with a different coach every couple of years. A little continuity would be great for the development of our existing players.

I have to say that I agree with the OP. I'm a Lakers and a Bobcats/Hornets fans. I became a Lakers fan when our Hornets moved away and slowly started supporting the Bobcats when they came to town. As a Lakers fan I am very excited about the future. About the Bobcats/Hornets? Not sure much. I know a lot of fans are like "you aren't a real fan if you pull against the team" and I can somewhat agree with that. I can't sit down and watch a game and get pissed when the Bobcats are playing well or be happy when they are getting beat. However I look at the overall picture and it is definitely disappointing that they will miss out on an elite prospect just to make the playoffs in a year where a lot of teams are tanking. Honestly in the next couple of seasons the Bobcats will likely still be at the 7th or 8th seed spot or just missing out on the playoffs while teams with Parker, Wiggins, Embiid, Exum, etc are up and coming. Don't get me wrong though.. I really want to believe that our young guys can guide us to 50 wins a season, but I just don't see it right now. I just want to see the Hornets buzzing again, man.

TL:DR version:

I was a Hornets fan in the 90s when they were good & very popular.

When they started sucking I started pulling for the Shaq/Kobe Lakers.

Now that the Lakers are a joke again I want to pull for the Hornets but they aren't very good either.

Should I go with OKC or Miami?

We were the laughing stock of the NBA while we spent years losing. The entire goal of every team is to win basketball games. Every year teams will attempt to lose for a higher draft pick, but that is from fans and maybe secretly by ownership and upper management.  Players never quit and stop playing, coaches and general managers dont.... you know why? it is their job on the line.

Every year the draft is a open market, players can be found anywhere and everywhere, it is all about finding the right players and matching them to your team/system. Yes this years draft appears strong but it is never a guarantee. Every year you hear about the next big thing or waiting for "next years" amazing class.....

Players bust all the time, for all we know none of these prospects will amount to anything. Look back through the last 10 drafts and see all the players that were hyped that had no career

Do I wish we had made a move for Harden, yes but not many thought he was worth the 2nd pick at the time if that was even ever actually offered. Rudy Gay yeah right, guy is horrible a headcase who thinks he is a star. doesn't even go to practices and is just there for the $. that's why Memphis traded him and Toronto already did the same....

You have to win games to gain support, yrs of losing has crippled a once proud franchise and city. Some people will never be happy but winning games is where it starts. players have to want to play here and this team and Big Al have are working to turn us into a respectable franchise
