Just to clear something up....

There is a common misconception that Steve Smith is a jerk off the field.

It isn't true. Well, unless you are part of the media. You see, Steve doesn't like the media. You know what, I don't blame him.

Over the years Steve has been one of the most gracious with the fans. He has signed more autographs and posed for more pictures that the rest of the offense combined.

Steve has quietly done a lot for the community and is well respected and liked by those that actually know him.

Just wanted to clear that up.

How he is off the field has never really mattered to me.   Whether he's an angel or demon.                           He'll always be one of my favorite WRs of all time.   It sucks when your favorite players get older.

This is why it is such a touchy and emotional time with possibly losing Smith.

89 has meant more to me personally than any other athlete in my life. It's going to be really hard for me to deal with honestly. The people who bash Steve Smith are either racist, stupid or both. The man has been an absolute blessing to this franchise and it has been a privilege to watch him play these last 13 years.

Yep.   I understand why we should probably move on from Smith and go in a younger direction,  to  start supplying Cam with new weapons..

Some are getting extremely emotional though at the idea of losing 89.             As if moving forward without him will take away all that he has done for us in the past.   He will always be regarded as one of,  if not the best player in franchise history.

he is very moody and if you doesnt like you......wrath you shall feel.

media-wise, smart players/people use the media for their benefit. turn a negative to a positive gos a long way here.  that or never talk to them, which is against nfl rules.

Maybe it isn't to everyone but every year I go to training camp I've seen him be an asshole to at least one fan. Only saw 1 that deserved it. Speaking from experience he has been an asshole to me twice and I am a soft-spoken respectful guy that has been a fan of his since he was drafted. He isn't the most likable guy at all from a fan's perspective. He is/was a hell of a player and that always helped me get over that. I am aware of his family/community involvement and think it is great, but as far as fan interaction he was always a huge letdown. This is hard to admit seeing as he has been my favorite player for so long.
