Panthers attempting to trade Steve Smith.

One thing any older football fan can tell you: Cheer for a team long enough and eventually they're gonna do something you hate. It's just the nature of the business.

Objectively speaking, it's probably the right thing to do, but football fans aren't known for their detachment. We're fans specifically because we attach our emotions to a team and it's individual players. We hold out hope or the fairy tale, but more often than not wind up with the reality check.

Happy endings to a career are relatively rare in the NFL. Only a few guys get to go out on top.

I wish Smitty would have been one of them.

I'll keep saying it. Its a rebuilding year and these are the types of moves you make when your in that mode.

How can you say the Panthers are in a rebuilding year when they're coming off a 12-4 season with the reigning coach of the year, defensive player of the year, and Cam freaking Newton?  The receiver corp and the secondary are rebuilding but the front 7 is still nasty.  With the right moves, Carolina is a Superbowl contender as soon as next year.

I can say it because we are doing it. We are not going to recoup what we are losing all in one season. Also next season expect even more bad Hurney deals to be cut. Last year was evaluation, now its time to rebuild the team to DGs standards which means this year will more than likely be a wash.
