Panthers attempting to trade Steve Smith.

Just got here and 518 posts in this thread. I was really hoping we would find a way to keep Smitty.  Will miss him.  Too bad the Panthers never got a receiver that would have allowed him to play the slot.  Thought this might be the year.  Pound for pound he is the toughest guy in the NFL.

So we can draft anybody, or bring anyone in off the street and Smitty is supposed to coach em up? Why not pick up some insanely fast Nigerian who doesn't speak English, Smitty can handle the coaching.......

Bottom line is the team currently has 1 Starting OL, two Gs who MIGHT pan out, and a bunch of scrubs. They also have Smitty as the entire WR core. Kids and free agents will not keep Cam off his backside. He will have less time to throw to recievers this year.

Givin this situation, relying on FA's and rooks is suicide.

I guess we're not completely in the same page and that's ok. Imo steve (and I have no inside information whatsoever) isn't the coaching type. He holds himself to a very high standard and works very hard to overcome everything standing in his way. There is a reason he has been in the league this long and that's because he has more fight in him than any player I've watched since really getting into football. Like I said, IF it was going to happen, it would have ready happened. I think the question is whether or not we think he would be a good coach, regardless of players brought in. Because yes I agree, we havent brought the best of the best.

Cam to McNutt. . superbowl.

ahhh preseason. I love the budding confidence good sir.

Gonna save this post (probably won't) My problem is that people talk about developmental players when discussing the draft and then when we suggest playing some, everyone acts like they are turds.  Not every player is a stud right out of the box, and not every player is a superstar.  McNutt has great hands.  He is a poor route runner, something you can easily correct.

People want to trash Barner, Kugbila, McNutt, etc.  because they didn't play a lot.  Neither did Evan Mathis.
