Panthers attempting to trade Steve Smith.

Are you kidding me? He's been in the roster 13 years. If it was going to happen, it would have been in 2010. We have drafted plenty of receivers. Colbert, robinson, jarrett, lafell, edwards, adams, and pilares. I'm a few beers deep so I'm sure there are more.

Are you kidding me?  None of those guys are NFL level Recievers.  Lafell can block but come on........

We're not talking about talent, we're talking about coaching. Smith has publicly called out many of these guys. Granted some like jarret deserved it.

I can buy those differences

However, G-Man seems willing to make the tough decision for the betterment of the team.  All of us should have the  #1 goal of improving this team....always

Yeah if it saves the team money that lets us sign a WR/OL/CB/resign Mitchell/Ginn, and this lets us take BPA in the draft, then as much as it sucks to let Smith go I'm for it.

What a complete PR disaster.

I don't see it that way at all. It's all speculation at this point and the Gman has said repeatedly that he won't discuss contract negotiations in the media. So it's all guessing and stirring the pot by the media to get a response from him and Steve. Unfortunately it seems Steve is falling for it.

Nobody brought up Smith's cap number before Gettleman made those comments.

The guy was asked about steve. Imo, his response wasn't that bad. I thought the media blew it up for readers. I was a little surprised when I saw this earlier today. But I'm nit going to throw a hissy fit because of an older expensive player. Listen everyone here loves steve. He is the sole reason many of us are panthers fans. I remember us getting a team and going to the nc championship game in 96, but was too young to really care that much. Steve scores a td on his first touch a few years later and the rest is history.

So we can draft anybody, or bring anyone in off the street and Smitty is supposed to coach em up?  Why not pick up some insanely fast Nigerian who doesn't speak English, Smitty can handle the coaching.......

Bottom line is the team currently has 1 Starting OL, two Gs who MIGHT pan out, and a bunch of scrubs.  They also have Smitty as the entire WR core.  Kids and free agents will not keep Cam off his backside. He will have less time to throw to recievers this year.

Givin this situation, relying on FAs and rooks is suicide.
