Panthers attempting to trade Steve Smith.

Possibly.  How much do you really know about McNutt?

You realize that we have free agency and the draft before the season, right?  How long would you hang on to a 35-year old WR?

Gettlemen, an expert evaluator of NFL talent, has decided Smitty is not worth the $$.  I tend to agree with him.

You realize that we would sign the same guys either way? Yah Steve might have 7 mil in cap for this year, but the hit is too much. Would you rather have Smitty or Jacoby Ford?

Starting to believe this is a nasty rumor started by Zod to get website hits during the offseason, already over 14,000.

this thread gets that much. I would guess the website is getting over 100k hits.

I just want somebody to jump out like in Scooby Doo with a mask so I can can say "ahhh it was old man Mr. Smithers" and he'd would have to say the punch line "and I wouldve gotten away with it if it hadnt of been for those meddling kids"

. . please say you know what Scooby Doo is

Bingo. Which leads me to believe that G-Man's philosophy is in full swing -- "The answer may already be on the roster."

If you seriously believe McNutt is the answer you are delusional. Same with Gettleman.

So we are gonna cut arguably the greatest Panther in history, who still had a solid year last year despite being the only competent WR on the roster and the focal point of everyone's secondary for 2 million dollars that will probably go toward signing a slightly above average OT or CB. I love the Panthers but if there is one player who deserves to go out on his own terms it's Smitty. He can still play some ball even if it's not at the Pro Bowl level that we're used to seeing.

No player has "earned" anything other than the millions that we paid them.

This is a multiple million dollar business...not a fantasy football team run by a casual fan.

Regardless of the cap implications, there were millions of additional dollars that were to be paid to Smith if he were on the roster next season....that is real money.
