Panthers attempting to trade Steve Smith.

I can buy those differences

However, G-Man seems willing to make the tough decision for the betterment of the team. All of us should have the #1 goal of improving this team....always

I'm glad he can make these rough decisions, but it just feels, empty. It's like losing a family member. I know, I know. Stop getting emotions involved, but that's easier said than done. I just wish he could have gone out on his own terms, triumphant, in true Smitty fashion.

If Smitty is indeed gone, let's please get Nicks and Avant in here.

We may as well accept the fact that Smitty is as good as gone.  How can he come back with all that has gone down for the past three weeks? I could certainly be wrong (because i don't know Smitty personally), but I am guessing that he is probably a very prideful guy who feels that his toes have been stepped on and really has some hurt feelings.  I don't know, but i wouldn't think that he takes kindly to being virtually pushed out the door under such circumstances.

i understand, and have always understood that 89 wouldn't be here forever, but I never imagined that he would go out like this. But, like Coach Fox always used to say, "It is what it is."

My heart is broken thinking about losing Smitty.  And I agree that he deserves to be treated with much more respect than it appears he is.  But all I can do is put faith in this being the best decision (if it really does happen) for the team, whether I believe it or not.

G-Man and Rivera are determined in finding weapons for Cam.

I really really really hope you're right!

And maybe in 3 months from now after FA and the Draft I can say releasing SS to create the cap space was the right move, but it sucks watching this happen without knowing their plan moving forward.

Please don't agree with AceBoogie. The guy is a delusional, uneducated tool. Cam might lose his #1 target but he at least has a vicious defense. That's much more than LeBron ever had in Cleveland.

Uneducated??? Where did you graduate from? I'm a student with a 3.9 GPA, don't make it personal because you don't know me.

It doesn't, Just know we aren't the only organization that has had to fo something like this. Yeah it sucks, yeah steve smith is the greatest panther that we had, and yeah he should have been able to go on his own terms, but blame Hurney, Fox, and even a little JR for signing him in 2011 to a 5 year contract that had him making close to 9-12 million when he will be 36-37

I see what you're attempting but no one needs to explain the Smith situation to me. I've followed him more closely than anyone else on the team for the last 10 years. I do blame Hurney and others for this. My whole reason for being "upset" is why do this now and in this way? There is no good reason for it. Getts botched this whole thing hard. I hope he's got a good PR guy. The Panthers will get roasted for this.

Nah, we are deliberately ignoring the offense and we don't want to give Cam any weapons. Herp to the Derp.

All I know is this fan base is way too use to how Hurney runs things, not how a real NFL GM runs things. If Hurney didn't pass out so many ridiculous contracts, Gettleman would not be in the tough position that he is in. He is having to make a lot of tough business decisions to get us to where we need to be long term. Smith had maybe a year or two left, and who knows he could still be coming back. Also, maybe he understands the situation and will retire a Panther. All I know, is the fans are getting mad a the wrong GM, and they need to quit there fuging crying. It's annoying as hell.
