Not to mention, Boldin fetched a 6th rounder a couple years ago with a similar contract but being a couple years younger. What's Smitty going to get? A 7th? No thanks.

I mean I know it doesn't make sense to pay him, but this should be sad news to all of us here. Smitty played his heart out for this team for 13 seasons and probably will go down as the best Panther in our short history. I'll miss his fire on Sundays.

Regular cut and the cap hit would be $9M

 

June 1st cut and we can save up to $3M.

 

Doubt we are going to cut him. Doesn't make much sense. I think we just want to see what we would get IF we wanted to trade him.

Kinda seemed more and more likely after seeing all the other vets that were being cut this last week.

Really going to hate watching him play in a different uniform. Have about 20 good games of his downstairs that'll be super tough to watch now. Figured forsure he'd retire a Panther. I hope he signs somewhere good and gets a ring though.

I think that the cap space this year is the more important goal....the pick would just be gravy.
