You either have never met and talked to him....or don't know people who know him. Because you are wrong. He is not the sweet likable peson that you want to think he is.

He actually is,my buddy ran into him outside of dicks and he actually stayed and talked for a minute. Even signed autographs. That was on his own personal time, he could have just gotten in his car and left

We get pissed when Hurney overpays and is loyal to players because of their past production and then we get pissed with G-Man doesn't do it?

For me it's about what I think Smith still CAN do. I don't, for a moment, think his decline in stats was all him. We shifted philosophically, added some more pieces and Cam became a better distributor.

I do think he should redo his contract to help a franchise that has bent over backwards for him, but he's been great for what, 10 out of 13 seasons? That should earn you some loyalty, IMO.

This kind of move is fine provided you have someone ready to promote up.

We have a really bad pool of FA receivers to choose from if we need a #1. Decker is decent but nothing special and is being inflated by Manning. Nicks just got done sandbagging an entire season because NY had the temerity to pay Cruz first :*(. Britt is probably drunk in a car somewhere. Rice gets injured eating breakfast and tying his shoes. On roster we have King and that other guy who got one pass thrown his way and couldn't get his feet down.

Smith is overpaid for what he is but we do actually need to field a couple of legitimate receivers next season. We already expecting at least 2 WR picks to be game ready week one?

Theres a difference between overpaying someone by giving them a new contract and then cutting/trading them while still waiting out their old contract.  Say Smiths contract was up this year, I don't think anyone would be happy if Gman extended him at his current salary, and a lot of people would be ok with letting Smith walk if he wouldn't take less than $7M/year.  Its the fact that Gman is actively trying to get rid of him that has people upset.

Let's not pretend Hurney had any other options than to draft those guys...

Do you have any idea what you're talking about? Luke Kuechly seemed out of the question for us, and look how it turned out... Yeah I have issues with Hurney as much as the next guy, but to say that he had no options other than to draft Kuechly is ridiculous. Cam was a guarantee that's for sure. But not Kuechly.

I call BS on the locker room thing. DeAngelo went out of his way on WBTV's "The Point After", saying letting him go would be "crazy and absurd".

This isn't going to just piss off fans - its going to ripple throughout the team. And not in a good way.
